Re: What kind of SD card do I need for a camcorder?

  • The SD card shouldn't have too much to do with the quality of the video. It will affect the transfer rate, and bad cards could lead to dead bits and corrupt files.

The quality of the video should be in the specs of the camcorder itself.

Thank you. I was told by sales associate to make sure that I got a card with a 4 circled on the front. I have noticed 2's and 4's but I am not sure what that means.

  • that should be the speed it writes. this may clear things up. It explains what each card does. You also have to make sure the card is compatible with the camcorder as well. If the card is too high a speed, it might not work.
