Anyone have a Tday recipe that was really popular?
I was a guest, but I brought this. (Original recipe from Cooks Illustrated.) It wasn't quite what I expected and it didn't behave during cooking like the recipe said it would. It tasted fine, but I wasn't in love.
Did you have better luck with any of yours?
Re: Anyone have a Tday recipe that was really popular?
I had several. The only one that I want to work on is my macaroni and cheese. I didn't add enough cheddar. The dacquoise and the turkey were hands down the crowd favorites.
Roasted Turkey and Pistachio and Raspberry Dacquoise
(note: They aren't part of the same dish, just the same link. Wanted to clarify before I get side-eyed.)http://under1000permonth.blogspot.com/2009/10/whole-wheat-pasta-024.html
This was by far the best received dish on my table, everyone loved it!!1!
What sort of flavor do the pistachios add to the dacquoise? I've never seen that flavor combination. From the name it seems like it'd be salty-sweet, but there's barely any salt in the recipe.

nice reading, tarheels.
1 cup (4 ounces) shelled, roasted, salted pistachios
Huh, I'm pretty sure this content is being covered in the post below, since everyone is sharing recipes. Could it be Tar, that you just had to start another post to get the attention focused back on you being Queen of the Entertaining Ideas world?
As pp mentioned, the pistachios were salted, so there was some salty-sweet going on. I really liked it because you tasted the raspberry and cream, which were sweet, but the finish was pistachio, so you didn't have a lingering sweetness in your mouth. I don't really like super-sweet desserts, though, so this was more my speed.

The post below is about everyone's experiences (only 2 recipes appear, one of which is an explanation). This post is for recipes.
Just posting a normal post-holiday EI thread.

DH's family doesn't really do sweets, so this might be a good recipe to try with them. Thanks for posting.

Sweet Corn Pudding from epicuriuos.com, although next time I would halve the sugar.
And please, this board has had more posts today than it has for months. You just think youre proving some sort of point. Instead, youre just proving ours.

I made a copy of Chick fil-a's carrot raisin salad (DH Loves it).
I hate the thought of mayo, so I only put in 1/4 cup instead of the 3/4 cup. But honestly, a tbl or two would have been enough imo.

DH brought it to the IL's and they wanted to keep the leftovers, but DH demanded he was taking it home bc he loved it so much
