Weight Watchers

I'm going to my first meeting tonight.  I am super nervous, because I have no idea what to expect.  What I'm really visualizing is like 4 older women who all know each other.  At least the first meeting is free, so if I hate it, I won't go back!  I have read a ton of good reviews about the program, so I'm pretty excited!

Re: Weight Watchers

  • I have heard lots of good things about it.  Most of the people I talk to who have been successful go to the meetings.  I think having to weigh in every week helps keep you on track.  Good luck!

  • It is wonderful..especially if you have a good speaker/leader.

I still journal, and do WW online b/c I was recently diagnosed w/thryoid problems and well, after journalling everything, and gaining weight for a few months w/a few breakdowns w/my WW leader, and numerous one on ones with her b/c I had lost weight before on WW, I just felt that getting on the scale was to traumatizing for me.  Seriously, I would obsess about it, get on the scale litterly every hour on the weekends, and then breakdown and cry.  I have since see a doctor about my thyroid and we are still getting it under control, but I still journal and have just eliminated the scale for right now, but hope to return one day.

Wow..that turned into a really long comment..sorry!  Good Luck!

  • I joined WW in 2001 and I lost almost 90 pounds (in about a year).  (Unfortunately I stopped going and have gained a lot of it back  Crying  ).  DH swears by the atkins diet and it works for him but it absolutely doesn't work for me.  I'm doing the ww plan (points not core) until I get pg.  Then I'll end up going on the gestational diabetes diet, mostly b/c I think I'll get it again and I might as well get used to it sooner than later.  Once I have a baby, then I'll definitely go back to the meetings.  If you like your leader, tell me, maybe I can go to that one too!
  • I'm doing it too. I don't go to the meetings b/c alot of friends and family have gone and i get all the info from them so it saves me the $. I heard the online program is good. I got off track for about a week and a half so I need to get back on/ I've lost about 7lbs :-)

GL at the meeting. Let me know if you need support! (I sure do!) LOL

  • I hope it went well, Red. I didn't see this post until late or I would have helped ease your mind. I did WW for a couple of years before the wedding and I lived it. It really is a great program and a good way to keep yourself accountable. I did it with my mom and she loved it as well.

The only issue I had with WW is that Brad swears by Atkin's and it is extremely tough to do both WW and Atkin's in the same house. So, we compromised and we are doing South Beach. It is pretty much right in the middle of the two.

But I think you will love WW - it is very easy to maintain. Good luck!

How did the meeting go, by the way?

  • How was the meeting?  Did you like the leader?  I am on ww (I need to kick start myself back into the meetings...) and I love it.  My sister lost 150 pounds on ww and is keeping it off!  Good Luck!

PS, which meeting did you attend?
