B/Sil are super hard to shop for. SIL is basically a "label whore" and I mean that in a nice way It just makes for shopping for her very difficult w/ a reasonable price range..
I don't want to do just gift cards for Xmas, yet again... they just got married in June but most of their registry stuff is complete. I do know that they started a dinner club with their friends so I was thinking of getting them a combined gift.
An entertaining cookbook from Williams-Sonoma along w/ a GC to Williams-Sonoma so they can get cool entertaining stuff.. or maybe a GC to Crate and Barrel since that's where they registered?
Any ideas other then a GC (around $100) that I could get them that has to do w/ dinner parties or entertaining? I was also thinking maybe a sweater for BIL in addition, since cooking stuff might not be so great for him, even though it's for both of them. Thoughts? TIA!

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
Meh. I received about 35 cookbooks between all the gift giving occasions the year of my wedding. The only one I've even opened is Hello Cupcake. I just tend to get recipes from family, friends, or putting stuff together myself.
Anyway, what about something fun like a dessert set. You can get a nice ice cream maker for about $50, add a set of sundae glasses and some cute sprinkles or other fun toppings, and you've got a fun and useful gift.
Crap...I Mean Crafts
love the idea! Go with the WS/GC.
I like the cookbook idea, as long as you think they will find it useful.
If your SIL is a label whore, you could add in something small but high end like cheese knives, appetizer plates or picks, candlesticks, serving utensils, napkins, or a cocktail tray.
I think some app plates, app picks and cocktail napkins would run you about $50-$60. Add the cookbook or a GC and you're set.
Or you could give them aprons. Make hers super cute (Anthropologie has great ones for about $25) and make his funny or manly (Amazon has a bunch).

I think the apron idea is great b/c 1) there proabably isn't much kitchen/entertaining stuff that they want but didn't register for; 2) your BIL might actually get to use it, so you don't have to buy a separate gift; and 3) even if they already have aprons, it doesn't hurt to have 2 or 3 :-)
And don't even think twice about label whore. Your gift giving shouldn't be harder b/c she's shallow. Gift from the heart, and screw anyone who's ungrateful.
Are they brand snobs in the sense that they are very loyal to certain brands (only wusthof knives, etc..)? Or are they brand snobs in the sense that they prefer higher end stores for entertaining items?
If it's the latter, you should check out Neiman Marcus. I think a nice piece of serveware would be a great gift for a couple that likes to entertain. I think Michael Aram has some nice pieces that are within your price range:

Also, anthropologie has great serveware as well. Not sure if it fits her style, but I love a lot of their items:

They also have some cute towels, aprons and cookbooks in the kitchen section.

Not as high end, but Sur La Table has some great gift sets. I love the Tagine gift set and it's a great price for what you get. I tried looking into it and I couldn't find a better deal:

I do like your WS idea, but I just wanted to give you a couple of other options.
I know after getting married I was tired of cookbooks, plus I never use them, I always get things from the internet instead.
We usually get BIL/SIL a combined gift. They do love to cook and they are crazy about mexican food. This year we got them one of those cast iron skillets with wooden tray for fajitas like mexican restaurants use. We are packing it up with a margarita mix, a funny hot sauce, and to go with the mexican theme I got them a little ornament for their tree that looks like hot peppers.
I know I like gifts that we can use 'together'. Although I did like the PP post about an apron, those can be fun!
