This laptop is a POS

I just got it a few months ago; it's a Dell with Vista. I know, I know, but it's what I could afford at the time.

It's like it has a life of it's own where the scroll pad is concerned. I won't even be touching it, and suddenly it'll hilight a bunch of stuff on the screen, or everything on the screen will get smaller and I'll have to X out of the page and open it again to be able to read it.

WTF?

Re: This laptop is a POS

  • I hate Vista so freakin' much it's ridiculous.

I told DH last night that we ARE upgrading to 7...after fighting with the printer for 45 minutes for the second day in a row. (Did you know you can't just ctrl+alt+del and exit the print spool in Vista like you could on XP when a document freezes while printing?  Angry)

And I feel the same way about my HP that we bought about a year ago when our old one died suddenly.  DH and I need to start a laptop fund so we can afford a really nice one next time around.

  • Don't even get me started on Vista I hate it as well...I too have a dell with Vista and it has a mind of its own two days ago I was playing a game on facebook and all of a sudden the volume decided to go all the way up to 100 and I tried turning it back down and it went up again, and again, and again...I had to shut the computer completely down and restart the stupid thing...

If it weren't for the fact that the computer shop will only give me $250 for it and its 6 months old I'd totally dump it for something better.

  • I've had a Dell laptop w/Vista since April and have had zero problems with it.

  • I've had an Acer with Vista with no problems for 2 years.

While I have only limited experience with Vista, I've heard that the experience has improved greatly over when it was first released.

Once I turned off the super annoying things, I was fine with it. It was just that first set up that was ridic. It's not their best, but it'll do.
