What did you decide to do? It wasn't clear to me from your bio if your baby is due now or if that is info from your previous child. I hope things are working out for you regardless.
Re: VBAC- Strawberrywine
Hi Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I normally lurk and peek in everynow and then. I just noticed you paged me.
I would really like to try for a VBAC. I am one of the many girls that feels disappointed about missing a birth experience after a c-section. To this day I believe that I was unnecessary induction( I did not want to induce and was threatened by my doctor that I was harming the baby although I was within healthy limits and I was a she's taking too long, let's get this over with it c-section) I am aware of the dangers. I'm due 1/5/09 with number two.
WH-Obgyn will schedule a c-section at week 41 and allow me to attempt a vbac prior to that date and H obgyn said they would do a vbac. It's such a hard decision and so much can change during your pregnancy. I'll have to see where I am.
Thanks so much for your concern.
Good luck with everything. I know I won't be going back to WHOB or Hartford Hospital myself because I found them only superficially supportive of natural birth. I will search the whole state for a homebirth midwife who will take me, once I am pg again, although there is a part of me that is still a little afraid of homebirth. I think the dangers of vbac are so overstated- and from what I have read there isn't evidence that a vbac at week 41 is any more dangerous than at week 40. Have you seen this site: http://vbacfacts.com/ ? It's a great resource for the actual evidence on vbac. From what I have read, your risk of rupture is below 1%, and the risk of the baby dying is 10% of that. So 10% of 1%.That is a risk worth taking to me! (I like to quote that stat to anyone who tells me that VBAC is too risky to do at home). The risk of practically any other complication is so much higher than that!
Congrats on your pregnancy and don't be afraid to examine other options if you start to distrust WHOB. As I said in my last response to your original post, you are much more likely to have the birth you want with a midwife and/or doula than just an OB. A repeat c-section is not much safer for the baby than a vbac, and it is riskier for you, so don't let them bully you. I think it's great that you continue to fight for the birth you deserve.
I have been reading so many articles and abstracts online on VBAC and thought I would pass them along to you. This one is a great study- lots of data and totally shows that VBAC is safe.

Also, I found a study that showed that beyond 40 weeks of gestation, VBAC is still safe. You're more likely to end up with another C, but there is not an additional risk to you or baby.

Good luck with the doctors.
