Re: Would you take $5 million

  • $5 mil to stay or $20 mil (as it stands) to walk?  I'd be out of there, even without the money.

  • She only gets $20m if she stays for 10 years. And it hasn't been nearly that long.

  • I think it would depend on a few things.

If I was totally blindsided, and still in love w/ him, I'd consider counseling and a new pre-nup, just to make sure if I decided, after counseling, to leave, that there'd  be some benefit to me to put myself through this whole mess.  Also, I'd want him to REALLY try and if more money is tied up in it - he'd be more likely to try.  [however, 50 million-80 million is probably chump change to Tiger, so this might not apply].

If I'd been turning a blind eye to his cheating, and knew about it, then I'd also be likely to take the deal w/ him and get more money.

Finally, if I was blindsided, hurt, but no longer in love w/ him or cheating was a dealbreaker for me, I'd tell him and his endorsements to go f* themselves.

Perhaps she'll see it as a guarantee he won't cheat on her again?  If that's what she's looking for, I'd ask for a new pre-nup where I get half of everything, LOL.

Hmm, then maybe this offer is his way of showing "good faith" to her to work on the marriage?  Because if she leaves now, he obviously benefits more than she does, but the pre-nup w/ renegotiated terms could show he wants to work things out since it penalizes him more [eventually].

I like the way you think, eclaires.  Except for UK basketball.

  • MT - you know you love UK.  It's okay to admit it.  I mean, after all, you did take our sloppy seconds of a coach... ;)

  • If she wants to stay and work it out, then she should stay, but no amount of money would convince me to stay with someone I didn't trust or want to be with. The money is irrelevant, imo.  And I think it makes him look like more of a shithead for trying to buy her love.
  • I see this as a business transaction (probably because it's not my life). The way things are, I'm sure they don't see much of each other that much anyway. Stay married, sleep in separate beds, live separate lives for all we care, then take the money and run!
