Poll: Best meal of your life?
$$$ no option! If the place isn't local I still want to know, but also add your fave closer place if you don't mind!
Re: Poll: Best meal of your life?
omg, ONE meal? i don't think i could pick one. i've done a lot of eating.
Best meal ever: The French Laundry, Napa
Best steak dinner: Carnevino, Vegas
Best local place: Lucques, Los Angeles
This is a very difficult question.
The most delicious meal I've had this year was at L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Vegas.
The prettiest meals I've had this year were at Masa's in San Francisco and Jean Georges in New York City.
The most innovative meal I've had this year was at wd-50 in New York City.
The best service I've had this year was at Michael Mina in San Francisco.
My fave local restaurants for the past two years have been Animal and The Bazaar by Jose Andres.
We saw that in Vegas and I looked longingly at the Discovery Menu.
Locally, Sorrento Grill in Laguna Beach comes to mind. Everything we ordered was so flavorful and perfect.
My fave sushi places may not be suitable for an anniversary celebration. They are both in Little Tokyo -- Sushi-Gen (on 2nd Street) and Toshi Sushi (on 1st Street). Neither is fancy, but the fish is extremely fresh and well-prepared.
For your anniversary, I suggest another favorite of mine -- R-23. The sushi is good there, but the cooked dishes are even better. It's the best of both worlds.
Saw that when we were up in Napa. I was curious if it lived up the hype!
Vintage. It's in a little cabin in Sun Valley (Idaho). Best meal ever, made even better by watching the snow fall outside, down past the twinkle lights in the trees.
Here's the owner/chef's cookbook. MIL uses it a lot and loves his recipes.

Local? Shiit. I have no clue.
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
Twinsies.
I've had higher satisfaction levels at SP and OG, I have to say.
In terms of price-to-quality ratio, I think you're justified.
I second R-23. The food is delish and it's cool to sit on the funky cardboard chairs.
It's damn pricey, but everything from the setting, to the service to the food and drink are just amazing. Best birthday dinner ever!
I really liked La Cachette in West LA. But it closed.
They reopened as a bistro in Santa Monica, but I doubt it's the same.
I never went to the original La Cachette, but the new La Cachette Bistro was enjoyable.
You should go, kirkette!
