Good 1 night 2 day trip destination?

I'm thinking about planning a short surprise trip for DH and I for the week after Christmas. He gets off work at 8 a.m. on Monday and goes back at 12 a.m. Wednesday night, so we'd need to go someplace pretty close.

Does anyone have any suggestions of places that would be fun for just a few days? We have only lived in Texas for a year and a half, and haven't done much traveling. The only place we've been is San Antonio. We are pretty close to Oklahoma too, so Oklahoma destinations are welcome!

I'd probably go with Fredricksburg or Austin.  Either would be great for a getaway.

I love Fredricksburg! My parents have been to Marshall too (another little town) and enjoyed it. Glenrose and Grandbury are both alot of fun too. Lots of little shops and what not.

Brenham is always fun if you like the small town feel.
