Your holiday wish list (no, not gifts)

Share your holiday wish list here. Not the gifts you want, but the things you wished would happen, however nonsensical or impossible. I'll start:

  • I wish the tree would put lights on itself, since it's clear DH isn't going to do it!
  • I wish it would snow, but only one Christmas Eve or Day, so my travel isn't hindered.
  • I wish BSC MIL doesn't call us 10 million times whining how we won't be there this year (we went last year, and the 11 hour drive makes it impossible this year; we invited you here for NYE and you said no, so get over it!)
  • I wish the cookies and candies I loved magically appeared without me making a mess in the kitchen and out of our pots and pans.
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

Re: Your holiday wish list (no, not gifts)

  • I wish that I would come home one day and the entire house would be decorated for Christmas (read my blog for an update as to why...)

I wish the magical grading elves would tackle the giant stack of papers I have hiding behind me right now so I could get my own thesis/grad class work done.

I wish I could enjoy holiday food/sweets/etc. and not gain a pound. In fact, I wish I could enjoy holiday food/sweets/etc. and lose the 30 pounds I'm trying to lose by next July.

I wish I could have November back and actually put more time/energy into NaNo.

I wish I had won, like, $500 on a lottery scratcher ticket. Then I could buy awesome holiday presents for everyone on my list rather than struggling to figure out something that won't cost me more than $15/person.

  • Another one: I wish my lovely SILs would stop asking me what my mom wants for Christmas. I don't know! And I have to ask my mom (which they could just do, or maybe the do and get no response like me), who may or may not give me one idea and I end up with 3 people wanting that info!

  • SBS, I'll let you know that I do not own a single Christmas decoration. To me, decorating is more trouble than it's worth. I would have to store extra boxes in my already cramped basement space. Move things out of my apartment to fit a Christmas tree. Honestly, it's just not worth it to me at all. To me, decoration don't make Christmas any better.
  • I wish I had more Christmas decor than a tree. I don't even have a tree skirt or stocking.

I wish my Christmas cards would sign themselves (once I receive them, that is)

I wish Christmas cookies were calorie free.

I wish I could finish my shopping and just be done with it.

  • I have some of the same as others:

I wish the ornaments would magically appear on the tree. The tree is up, just naked. We have a pre-lit one...love it because I hate putting on the lights.

I wish it would snow for Christmas, just enought to cover the grass and make everything pretty.

Like Leigha: I wish the cookies and candies I loved magically appeared without me making a mess in the kitchen and out of our pots and pans.

I wish the room that will be the nursery and is currently filled with boxes and containers of my things when I moved in, would get cleaned out and ready for painting. Maybe even paint itself. Also that said boxes would be gone through and stuff either thrown out, donated or put away.

  • I wish I could buy every Christmas-related decoration that strikes my fancy.  There are so many in the stores now that neither money nor space will allow.

SBS, I'm with you on the calorie-free treats.

I wish that New Year's at the ILs will be fun.  Usually I throw the NYE party for my friends, but this year we will be in Colorado.  They live in the middle of nowhere and go to be around 9, so my hopes are low.

  • I wish I could take the whole month of December off work so I would have time to bake all the holiday stuff I want to, send out xmas cards, decorate my house, and buy and wrap xmas presents.

I wish I could throw a holiday party but I've thrown at least 1 party per month since August and we dont need to spend that much money this month on top of xmas presents.

I wish I could eat all the baked goods I want to make and still fit into my jeans.

I wish I could have more than 4 days to spend in Iowa with my family so that I could see my friends too.  Unfortunately coming home over xmas makes it super hard because everyone is so busy with family stuff.

  • I wish I could take the next two and a half weeks off and get things done around the house that have been put off for months.

I wish my work projects would complete themselves.

I wish we had more holiday parties to attend. I love holiday parties.

I wish I knew what we were doing for NYE.

  • I just had another wish.  I wish my research group would make up their minds about whether or not they need me next Tuesday.  I got invited to a super-fun party at DH's work and I really want to go and not be administering an ADIS!  I said I would do it Wednesday, you changed it to Tuesday, and now you're not even sure.  Just tell me!!
  • I wish the dog was back home with us already.

I wish I could find a new job.

I wish we would at least have a showing, let alone sell the house.

I wish I could teleport myself to and from Massachusetts Christmas weekend.  Really not looking forward to that drive...especially if its bad weather.

I wish EvSIL would just stay away when its present time at my parents on Christmas Day.  She and Bro opted out initially, but last I heard they were going to show up late...thereby lessening the time the rest of the family gets to spend with our extended family at Stop #2 for the day.  So considerate of them.

I wish I could decorate for Christmas this year.

I wish I could magically lose about 20 lbs.

Gotta love the ADIS. I administered a ton of these in grad school too.

  • i wish my pre-wedding exercise motivation would return so i could remove the 10 pounds ive gained over the past 5 months.

i wish that i made more money so that i could buy myself a pair of boots without completely depleting my family christmas budget.

i wish that laundry would wash and dry itself.
