Groton Holiday Lights Parade and Tree Lighting with Santa

Saturday, December 5th, 2009: The Groton Business Association (GBA) of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce will hold its Annual Holiday Lights Parade in December at 5pm. The GBA, the Town of Groton and the City of Groton invite you to participate in this special annual holiday event.

The GBA welcomes floats from businesses, clubs, and organizations and marchers from all groups in the community. A special call goes out to bands and choral groups who make that special holiday music that everyone knows and loves. Trophies will be awarded to parade participants. Judging will be held at 4 p.m. prior to the start of the parade. Tune into Q105 for holiday music from 4:30 - 6:30.

After the parade, Santa Claus will have the honor of lighting up the holiday tree on the green at the rear of the Groton Shopping Plaza.

Keep in the generous spirit of holiday and bring hats, mittens and scarfs for those in need. Donations can be dropped off at the tree after the parade.

The Parade Committee is looking for donations, sponsors for awards and volunteers for the night of the parade.

Groton's Holiday Lights Parade is sponsored by the Groton Business Association (GBA) of the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce and Holiday Lights Parade Sponsors. This town-wide event is to promote businesses in Groton and create a greater sense of community among all Groton residents. Any net proceeds from the festival will be used to support GBA events and projects throughout the year.
