Weight Watchers Update

Thanks for all the support yesterday!  I went to the meeting, and stayed for the "getting started" session.  I really enjoyed it.  Wasn't at all what I pictured.  People of all different ages (including a few my age) and everyone was normal weight, like me (or so I think)...just trying to lose a few.  I signed up for the monthly pass, so I get on-line access, as well...which is AWESOME!  You can just type food in (similar to sparkpeople) and it keeps it all on-line for you with the points and everything.  I'm a little overwhelmed, because when I've dieted before foods are so restricted...I don't even know where to start with this!  LoL   But I'm really excited to get my eating under control.  I'm the type that eats when I'm bored.  I go to a meeting in Melbourne, for the nestie who asked...and for ScMcMahon, I like the leader, so once you have a baby, you should come!!!  I'll keep you all updated as to my progress.  Normally I weight everyday and have decided that I'm only going to weigh at the weekly meeting.

Re: Weight Watchers Update

  • The receipes online are REALLY good...my DH eats them when I make them, and really likes them.

Good Luck!  And remember, it is not a diet, but a way of life...It really opens your eyes to how much you might eat in one day..and portion control.

One thing I have that is GREAT w/portion control, is a magnetic 1/2 cup measuring cup...that i leave on the fridge..that way if I am having ceral, I can just grab that cup and scoop away...especially when the serving size is 1.5 cups..and i get to scoop THREE times...makes it feel like a ton of food!  I saw the same measuring cup the other day at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

  • Great idea!  I was just thinking that I need some measuring cups for work.  The fridge one sounds great.

  • Glad you liked the meeting.  I didn't have the chance to respond to your post yesterday, but I've had success with weight watchers in the past (20 pound loss that I've kept off- except when I was pg).  I still serve myself from a measuring cup too.  :)

  • I did WW online and really liked it. The recipes are awesome. I never felt like I was dieting when I did it. I often think of going back and should as I've put a few pounds back on, but I just can't swing the montly fee at this time. Otherwise, I loved. It will blow your mind how much differently you will think of your portions after doing it awhile. Good luck!!
  • I'm glad you liked it! That's great.

ebi1978- I'm swinging it alone and its working out ok for me. I have some old books and online resources that you could use, online calculators and all :-)

  • It's great that you are getting started and that you liked the leader.  When I went (also one in Melbourne), I loved the leader (we got really close since I was going for about a year) but once she got transferred to another place, the new woman they brought in was not as "nice".  I was close to my goal, (I was dating DH A LOT at the time) and missing meetings.  So I stopped going.  (I kick myself a lot for that.)

Good luck... keep us updated!  I'm sure you are going to like WW better than any other diet!

  • Good luck!  I have known so many people that have lost weight (and kept it off) with WW!
