AW: I moved!
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been around, so I wanted to say hi and share my good news. DH and I moved from Koreatown to Santa Monica - and you can see the ocean from the front of the apartment building! Well, it looks a little far away, but you can still see it. Not from our view unfortunately. We live around 2 blocks away from the ocean view (from Palisades Park if any of you know what I'm talking about). It's really close to the ocean, but in Santa Monica, there's like this cliff with the a road stretching along the edge of it, and you have to go further and walk down steps in order to get to the beach. I love that cliff end though, there's a park parallel to the cliff, and a running path - now I can walk 3 minutes to get there and have my runs while looking at a spectacular ocean view!
Sorry I'm being so detailed - that's just me I guess. Anyways, I'm so happy because in K-town I had to deal with tons of roaches, especially in the summer (outside, thank goodness not in the apt.), and I really hated where we lived, because the trash shoot was very near our front door, and the hallway almost always smelled like rotting garbage. Of course it didn't smell like that when they first showed us the place, those stinkers! (ooh, a pun!) We complained about it, but all they did was spray a really heavy-smelling Lysol-type smell a couple of times a week, and that was opressive and awful as well. We were going to move when the lease ended, but then the manager offered a $200 deduction in the rent per month, and we thought it would be a good opportunity to save $$.
Thank goodness she never got around to having us sign a new lease, because 2 months after the lease ended, I realized that I had just completely had it with the gross smell in the hallway. Sometimes it would even come into the apartment, for goodness sake!
We are paying a little more rent, but we got an amazing deal - all the other apartments near us that were available were either way smaller or about $300 more per month!
Anyways, that's what's going on with me. If anyone ever wants to visit LA, you are welcome to an aerobed at our place! Looking forward to catching up here!

Yay for the move!! Your old place sounds terrible, but what a nice upgrade! I love Santa Monica. When I lived in LA, lots of my friends lived in SM so we were always running around there. Super great location!
