Websites to look for Houses for Rent?

DH and I recently moved to Prescott and are staying in an apartment. We want to rent a house and I'm wondering if there are other websites that are good to look for houses for rent other than Craigslist?  I know most of you are in the Phoenix area but thought you might know of something...  I have found some property management sites but I'm hoping for a private owner - we have 2 cats and I really want to adopt a dog and property managers aren't usually the most pet friendly (plus they charge a lot of fees).

tia!

Re: Websites to look for Houses for Rent?

  • Hi there!

Property management companies are usually hired by private homeowners to handle the day-to-day issues and occasional crisis that come with being a landlord.  The homeowner is the one who sets the pets or no pets rules.  As for what fees they might charge for pets, that is also usually set by the homeowner.

After my husband moved into my home, we rented out his home and hired a property management company to find good tenants and handle any phone calls that might come in at 2:00 am because a water pipe sprung a leak or something!

Owners that use a property manager don't usually advertise their property on Craigslist because they rely on the property manager to bring in and screen potential renters.  So, it probably couldn't hurt to contact a property management company.  If you tell them what you're looking for, they might just have something in their inventory that's perfect for you.

    Good luck!Smile

hey!  Yeah, I was looking a lot at homes managed by property managers but I kept running across blanket "pet policy" statements on their websites that applied to all of the homes that they list. I did think that was strange since I was under the impression that there were individual home owners behind the scenes.

Well I guess I will just keep trying - like you say, it can't hurt! thanks!
