Flooring Allowance or new carpet

Hi all!!  We are going to put our townhouse on the market soon however it needs new carpet in the bedrooms (we have hardwood floors downstairs).  If you were to buy a condo/house would you prefer the carpet be done already or would you prefer a flooring allowance (so you could choose the flooring, etc) you would want?
Thanks!

Re: Flooring Allowance or new carpet

  • I would rather it already be done, that way once it is time to move in we wouldn't have to worry about doing the floors.

  • It probably would also benefit you more in terms of profit if you updated prior to putting on the market.
  • I would love the flooring allowance!
  • Not to be contrary, but I am totally the opposite.  I am picky and would want to pick my own - even if it was a portion of the money I'd pay.  Plus, I'd worry what the person was covering up with the new carpet.  And - I don't like carpet, so I'd probably rip it up anyway.  Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but wanted to give you a different perspective.
  • I am with Kristen.  I would prefer the allowance.
