Another girl visiting Portland!
I know there is a post just below about visiting Portland...
I'm visiting Portland from Seattle this next week and would love to get some recommendations on places to visit/hang out with my 1-year old daughter during the day! Any suggestions welcome!
TIA

oh, there is also a free jazz improv concert at a park in SE tomorrow night. Here are the details:

And the zoo is always great (better than the woodland zoo, imo).
a couple of posts down there is an Oregon Getaways post. There should be some fun things to do in there that are in or close to Portland.
PP mentioned the zoo -- right next door there is the Children's Museum. There's lots of things to do there. We started taking DD around 1 yr. They have an area just for the young ones that's pretty nice.
We tend to take DD to out to lunch since dinner can be hit or miss with her (too close to bedtime/witching hour). Some of the places we've taken her: Nancy's Kitchen (casual, burgers, salads, etc, SUPER nice staff, my favorite is the tuna or chicken salad with the celery seed dressing. great shakes), Serratto (Italian, the owners have young kids and the staff is really great with them), Wildwood (definitely for lunch, definitely not for dinner), Jake's Famous (seafood, steak, they do well with kids IMO). We do take DD for walks outside while waiting for food and then if she gets too loud or throws things, we take her out of the restaurant and the person left pays the bills and gets to go boxes and I know the restaurant staff appreciates that, which probably goes hand in hand with the great service we've gotten but all of these places have been extremely welcoming to us when we come in with DD.
There's also a place called Old Wives' Tales that is supposed to be good with children but I've never been there.
You might check out www.urbanmamas.com They have lists of things to do w/kids around town as well as a lot of other good posts (you can do a search for specific things like restaurants), etc.
I just found this link that I bookmarked a while ago: http://www.portlandmetromoms.com/pdx_bestof.htm#daytrip.
