I feel really badly for Nebraska's defense
because if Texas ends up winning this game it will not be the defense's fault.
Their offense is just awful.
Re: I feel really badly for Nebraska's defense
Their defense looks really, really good. I agree about their offense - they could go into the stands and get a better quarterback than what they have now.
I am completely surprised Texas has struggled like this.
I agree - my heart is broken for the Nebraska fans. I need more alcohol.
My Bio
I was cheering for Texas all the way - OState needed that win to feel more confident about going to the Cotton Bowl.
What a game though - it was definitely the defense that held Nebraska in it. They'll be a force to be reckoned with next season...and State plays them for their homecoming. Awesome.
I thought I was going to have to move all the breakables in our house after that game
Nebraska played great though
Strength of schedule needs to be included in the BCS (again). Look at this game - Texas is going to play for a NC and they could barely beat a Nebraska team that is...well, completely and utterly awful. And they can't claim they were on a neutral field - Jerry World was 99% Horns. Who has Texas played this year?
Come again? What was the score November 7th?
Perhaps we should introduce Landry Jones to our defense again.
Bout - I will officially agree with you on something about the Huskers. Do you have a pen/paper to note this time?! haha. The huskers have a very good defense (one of the best in the country). I would not say that they are "completely and utterly awful". Their offense could use a little work (specifically their offensive line) With that said, I could not figure out why everyone thought that if NE won, it would be such a big huge upset that would go down in history forever. The Huskers have a very good team - if they beat Texas, it wouldn't have surprised me. I told DH the game would come down to 3 points; I was close
haha. As much as I don't like the Huskers, I give respect and congrats where it is due! At least I can look at things from a football standpoint and not just my like/dislike for a team. lol. Speaking on the Huskers - who do you think for Heisman? Put your Husker lovin' thoughts aside haha. Suh? I think Ingram definitely has a good chance - his yards per rush is absolutely crazy + no fumbles for a RB is crazy. My cousin mentioned Andy Dalton? I don't really follow college FB and know nothing about the person - thoughts? I think between Suh and Ingram - either should have a good chance on winning.
"Bout time".......please learn to read. Oupink stated in MULTIPLE posts that she wanted Nebraska to win this game so that a deserving team such as Boise, TCU, or Cinn could go to the National Championship - one of very few posters, by the way, that cheered for Nebraska. Sure, Nebraska has a good defense but their offense IS suspect. If Texas were a deserving NC team, they would have blown on Nebraska - wasn't Texas favored by two touchdowns? Her point was (which you obviously didn't get) - Texas is ranked so high because they didn't play jack sh!t for opponents this year. They barely beat a team they should have blown out (not my opinion, going with Vegas on this one) and get to play in the NC because of it.
Sorry oupink I am sure you can stand up for yourself but geez.
And whom, may I ask, have Boise, TCU and Cinn played this year? What makes them so 'deserving' over an undefeated Texas team?
Look, be delusional all you want - I would suspect that most people are VERY surprised by the close score of last night's game - except for those like oupink that realize Texas' strength of schedule was not so....strong which was her point. According to Vegas, it should have been a blow out.
As far as beating OU soundly...I don't know what that has to do with the Texas/Nebraska game last night. But I will say..I watched that game and I don't think a one point win at home against a team playing their third string offense is what I would consider a "sound" win.
Regardless, once again, an undeserving big 12 team will get to play in the NC, will get their @sses handed to them, and the entire Big 12 will be embarrassed. Again.
Since this week's BCS standings aren't out yet, I'm using last week's. The five unbeatens defeated the following ranked teams:
Cincinnati: Pittsburgh (15), Oregon State (16), West Virginia (23)
TCU: BYU (14), Utah (25)
Texas: Oklahoma State (20), Nebraska (22)
Alabama: Virginia Tech (12), LSU (13), Florida (1)
Boise State: Oregon (7)
And just for kicks, the ranked-as-of-last week teams that Florida's beaten? LSU(13)
So I'd say that Cincinnati has a damn good argument that it should be in the national championship. It and Bama are the only two schools to beat three ranked teams, and Cincinnati is the only one who played an OOC game against another BCS conference team on the road. As of last week's standings, there was pretty good parity among the conferences for top 25 teams: SEC (3), Big 12 (3), Big 10 (3), Big East (3), ACC (3), Pac 10 (5), and Other (5). That'll obviously change this week, as the voters will finally realize that Cal and USC were overrated. But for this year, I don't think you can look at those standings and look at the teams Cincy beat and discredit them for playing in the Big East. Unfortunately, it will hurt them anyway. Boise State's schedule was particularly light, but TCU beat the same number of ranked teams at Texas. Considering the BCS conference schools won't give TCU the time of day (I'll eat my hat if Texas or Florida ever plays TCU in OOC), I don't know what else it can do.
PLAYOFF! PLAYOFF! PLAYOFF!
"It's the most wonderful time, of the yeeear..."
I love seeing overhyped teams from inferior conferences get whipped by the SEC Champs. This year should be no exception.
I can assure you that, if any of the SEC schools were in other conferences, they would be ranked. The thing with the SEC (this year in particular) is that there is a lot of parity, and many teams just get beat up by each other going through their regular conference schedules, such that they drop out of the rankings. The SEC's superiority was demonstrated by unranked, very mediocre teams (Georgia and South Carolina)' beating the teams playing for the ACC Champ (Georgia Tech #9, and Clemson), and will be demonstrated again this bowl season. (Last year, Ole Miss beat up on Texas Tech, the darling of the Big 12.)
So don't give me you, 'Cincy beat more ranked teams than UF.'
Outside of the top 2 teams (i.e., those that are selected to go to the BCS NC), these rankings are pretty meaningless.
