About the snake I saw...

It was all black...maybe about 4 feet long and skinny...he didn't kill it...i think he just sprayed it with air or batted it with his hose...i couldn't look because i was too much freaking out!  But it was certainly gone in a jiffy!!!

Re: About the snake I saw...

  • Sounds like a Black Racer.  There are lots in Florida because they like the wet, swampy grounds.  They are all black, slender and are fast as hell.  They are very common but they are more scared of you than you are of them and if you get too close they'll scoot off really fast.  That's my guess.
  • I would have run away screaming.  I hate snakes!

BTW, Jenny....did you and your husband go out to eat at the Chili's at the Loop last Friday around 5:30?

  • Black racers are about the only snakes that dont bother me.

Yep, that's probably what it was.  We had one at our old house & I've seen them here in the community.  I once was standing next to a huge aloe plant playing with the plant.  About 2 minutes later, a black racer crawled out of it....

  • Well I'm glad he didn't kill it.  If it was really skinny it was a racer; if it was fatter it was most likely an indigo snake.  But they're not nearly as common.
