Had one of the BEST meals of my life today in Downtown Charleston at a restaurant called Magnolia's--seriously amazing food.
I spotted a book for sale and lo and behold it was the cookbook for every dish on the menu--I bought it on the spot. Jen, I totally thought of you after sampling the best appetizers, a 'Southern' egg roll (with tasso ham and collard greens in a spicy mustard peach sauce)--to freaking die for!!! Also the best Fried Green Tomatoes (with ham) ever. Thought the egg roll especially would be a knock-out dish for a caterer. The cookbook details everything--all of the sauces, stocks, cremes, deserts etc...

In my opinion, a perfect gift for anyone who likes to cook, especially Southern food with a sophisticated twist.?
Re: *hawki and cookbook lovers*
Awesome -- I just added it to my Amazon wishlist. I remember hearing about the Magnolia Bakery before but haven't known anyone who has ever been to the restaurant.
ETA: actually the 2 are not related at all... there is a Magnolia Bakery in NYC that has a cookbook as well which is the one I was thinking of when I first read this.
