Disney World Parks?

So Courtney is going to a conference in Orlando this week and I'm going to fly down and we're going to stay the weekend for my birthday and are going to take advantage of the free Disney World admission on my birthday.  Would you go to Magic Kingdom, Epcot or Animal Kingdom?  (We've both been to Magic Kingdom and Epcot as kids so we were leaning towards Animal Kingdom but it closes sort of early and I don't know that much about it)

TIA!

Re: Disney World Parks?

  • I would probably go to the Magic Kingdom. I feel like there is the most to do there, but I also haven't been to Animal Kingdom.

  • We went to both.  Magic Kingdom was fun but we loved Animal Kingdom!
  • It really depends on what you want to do. Animal Kingdom has some big thrill rides - Dinosaur and Expedition Everest (best ride in all 4 parks in my opinion), as well as the safari ride and a great Lion King stage show. Plus you can see my college friend in the parade :) Magic Kingdom is low on thrill rides, but big on, well, magic and family fun. I don't know how I'd choose if I were you, because I love being at Disney and I love all the parks for different reasons. You'd be best to pick the one with the kind of attractions you'd rather experience. Plus if you finish early at AK (we went at park opening and only stayed until 3 after seeing everything we wanted to), you could always get a park hopper and finish the day at MK to revisit your must-sees from previous visits.

ETA: I just saw that you'll be using your free birthday admission, which I assume is a single park ticket. You might call and see if they'll let you pay the difference to upgrade to a park hopper for one day.

  • MGM is my favorite park--the Rock and Roller Coaster, the Tower of Terror, and all the cool movie-themed stuff. Love it!
  • If you haven't been to AK, go there. Yeah, they close earlier but if you get there at opening you'll likely be exhausted by then anyways. MK and Epcot are 2 day parks already so you'll just hit highlights of either of those. You can hit most of AK in one full day if you take advantage of fast passes and eat counter service (try Flame Tree BBQ - so good!).

The birthday pass is one park only - no upgrades allowed.

Ditto. I wasn't really a fan of AK or Epcot. I would choose MGM or Magic Kingdom.
