Airport help

Any tips on getting through Lambert security efficiently? I will be checking a bag. This is only my 4th time ever flying and my first time going solo, and I'm completely freaked out about have to go through the whole process by myself. Not to mention, flying makes me very nervous. Yes, I'm scared of heights and moving fast while not close to the ground makes it all the worst.

Re: Airport help

  • Wear shoes you can get off and on easily, socks, and few accessories.  Be prepared to remove any jackets/coats.  You can probably google the things you're not allowed to have and not have them.  Also, be sure to have any liquids in your carry-on packaged properly.

  • You'll have to take your shoes off and put them back on so be sure to wear socks and shoes you can put back on quickly. Follow the 3-1-1 rule for your carryon luggage- you can carry liquids of 3.4 ounces or less in 1 quart sized ziplock, 1 ziplock per passenger. Pull out your ziplock and put it in the bin so they can check it; don't leave it in your bag. If you're in doubt about anything to carry on, put it in your checked bag. I always bring a Nalgene or Sig bottle and fill it at the drinking fountain. You can find more info at the TSA site or ask on the travel board.

  • I've also gotten right in without waiting. It's such a breeze compared Chicago and MSP.  (I say that now, then next week when I'm flying it will be super slow! :))Like others said have everything out and ready to go. And smile at the employees. People seem so grumpy there, people flying and sometimes working in Security.  I'd bring a book/gum/ headphones etc and try breathing exercises too.
