tax form / name change question

Good morning ladies! I have a possibly stupid question about tax forms...

If you had a previous employer in the very beginning of 2009, do you need to contact them to let them know of your name change before they send out tax forms?

I did freelance work for a bunch of different clients in the beginning of the year so it would be a PITA to contact them all, and I don't want to. I guess I have to though, right? Thanks.

I had a part time weekend job earlier in the year and would have had the same situation to deal with. My full time job is for an accounting firm, and I just checked with my boss who does my taxes, if I had to contact them and change my name to my married name, and he said no, as long as the social security number matches, then you're good to go and you don't have to contact them.

The problem is, the name isn't going to match if you have already changed your name with Social Security, and then a tax form gets sent out January 31 with your old name on it.  I'd contact them.
