We put the valence up tonight, but I'm not sure that I like the ends of the pole sticking out bare like that. The furniture is a cherry color and I think that the black might look out of place. I was thinking of gluing a green dancing dino on each end to maybe balance it out a little...what do you think?
Re: Need opinions, please...
As much as I love those dinos, I think it would be overkill to put dinos on the ends. Can you pull back and show a picture of walls with furniture and accessories?
The way I'm seeing it in my mind, I think the black finnials (sp?) will be far enough away from the furniture so that it won't matter if it doesn't match exactly. But you should go with dark rather than light.
The furniture hasn't come in yet...and the walls are still bare with the exception on a shelf on the wall to the left of the valence (see PIB).
My hubs thinks that the black looks okay...I'm just not sure
I actually don't like the black.
It is a kids room so you can go over the top somewhat and add dinos -- but I would actually probably go with a brushed or satin silver finish. That way it won't clash with the furniture. (It will basically disappear)
They have lots of shapes for the "end" or fennel. . . I have a cube or square end on my curtain rod in my office and I love the way it looks. (My bedroom has a rounder ball on it in brushed satin and I like that as well)
Oh, if you add the dinos you will then then to go out and buy new rods once your child gets older and changes the theme.
I would get rid of the black . . . go with your first instinct. You will probably constantly question that choice and it will be something that bothers you even though it might not bother anyone else.
I agree with everyone else....the Dinos may be overkill.
I think you should wait until your bedroom set comes in before changing it. You might not even notic the black.
Zach's room is sooo freaking Cute!!!
Thanks everyone! I'll see how it looks next week when the furniture comes in.
Snj...we got the gunmetal with the crib.
Cmeon...I'm not allowed near anything that sprays anything bad, like spray glaze. Hehehe. I got in trouble for that
