best deal on an iTouch?

Shopping for the 14 yr old for Christmas.

Anyone seen any smokin' deals?

Or is this too hot to get discounted?

TIA

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

Re: best deal on an iTouch?

  • Apple products don't usually go on sale. But stores often offer gcs when you get an ipod/touch. Target has $20 gc for the 32g itouch (it's $295) and Best Buy has them too (I didn't see any in the add this week).

I'd keep an eye out for the gc deals and also check apple.com for refurbished ones if you'd be okay with that.

  • Thank you!

And... your siggy is quite profound.

    Thanks for spreading the word.

And your pup is adorable too!

  • Best I've found is $179 after $5 rebate at Costco w/a  90 day return policy.

Although, TRU had an add for $199 + $25 GC, bringing it to $175.

And that is for an 8GB.  I have a friend in IT and he only has an 8GB, with room leftover, so I didn't see the reason to buy anything bigger.  I'm not downloading music to it, though, since you can get free music through the Pandora app.  We're using it mostly for games and some videos.

    DS1 age 7, DD age 5 and DS2 born 4/3/12
  • Check the Apple website for refurbished ones.  You might only be able to get the 2nd gen, but I believe the 8 GB one is the same in the 2nd and 3rd gen other than the software (which is downloadable).  I got my DS (also 14) a refurb one from Apple.com for his 14th b-day in March and he has not had any problems with it and it comes with the same warranty as a new one.
  • If you are planning to download a lot of video, I would recommend going higher than an 8GB.  I have a 16GB, and I have some episodes of SVU on it (I am a nerd about this show.), and they take up a TON of space...especially if you download in HD.  I have had to take some episodes off of it to make room for others because of how much space they use.

  • I just picked up the kids last night at Target.  I went with the 32G since it holds more movies, etc.

    $295 + $25 gift card

If you go to the Target website, you can also find a 10% off coupon for any ipod.  On the 32G it will save you another $29.50!!

  • For a 14 yr old I'd just get them a refurb directly from Apple.

    16GB for $199

  • This may just be me, but for a 14 year old I think that the older scroll wheel iPod would be the better choice.

Believe me, a 14 yr old would prefer the Touch.  I probably wouldn't get a Touch for a child 12 and under, but 14 is definitely old enough to take care of a Touch.  My DS is 14 and has one and he takes very good care of it.  Of course there are exceptions.
