12-8 gift wrap

Since I've been talking about wrapping packages a lot on MM, what are your gift wrapping practices?

Do you throw on any old paper and a bow?  Do you bag it?  Do you spend more time wrapping a gift than you spend on your hair in the morning?

Tell us about your wrapping style!

Re: 12-8 gift wrap

  • I usually go buy some 3 pack paper and look through every pack to find the best combo. I also buy one roll of really nice/fancy paper. Once I have the paper, I really just wrap the presents. I make sure it looks pretty but don't spend tons of time on it.

For special gifts, I will add curling ribbon to the package to make it look prettier.

  • I hate wrapping presents.  I am the worst wrapper ever!   Especially if it's something odd shaped.   I also suck at using a gift bag.   I'm not all creative with the tissue paper looking all nice.  I just shove it in the bag.   Sometimes my wrapping looks like a kindergartener did it.

I don't put bows or fancy things on it.  Why bother, it's just gonna get ripped off anyway.

    PS- what does "10-8" mean?

  • MrsZ, I just lurked on Money Matters and saw your lovely gift wrapped presents.  Wow!  Those are nice!  Come wrap mine-LOL.

Oops, that should have been 12-8.

I have a wrapping obsession.  You wouldn't be able to get in my dining room right now if you stopped by my house.  There's paper and ribbon everywhere.

  • I always wrap mine with bright colors and fun ribbon and bows.  I think I'm rebelling against my mom's wrapping that I had to deal with my whole life.  From the time I was 9, she only had a "formal" tree.  It was decorated in gold and burgundy.  Well...the wrapping paper had to match the tree.  Very boring.  It looked nice, but wasn't very fun for a kid.

So now, most of my wrapping paper is brightly colored with penguins or Disney characters (especially Tinkerbell and Winnie the Pooh).  No, I don't have any kids.  However, I make up for having the most boring tree growing up with my current tree and wrapping paper.
