What's wrong with my computer???
So frustrating!!! We use verizon for our internet provider.
We have an HP and the computer itself is working, I can use Windows, pull up our recent docs. etc...
but when I try and connect to the internet it says page can not be found.
Also, when I try to go on to itunes, it tells me to contact my internet provider because they could not connect.
Verizon is telling me it's the computer that is broken, HP people are telling me it's verizon!!!
How do I get to the bottom of this???
OH and PS- each want us to pay at least $100 to diagnose the problem!!!
Re: What's wrong with my computer???
I was on the phone with Verizon for over an hour with them trying to figure out what the problem is.
I was also on the phone with HP for an hour and they couldn't figure it out either!
So I guess the question is...who do I pay to come out ot my house? Verizon or HP?
What have you tried?
Try "Repairing" the connection.
Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections - your connection -> Support -> Repair.
Check and see if on the General Tab under Activity if there are any packets coming though.
My computer went on the fritz the other day after we set up our wireless network in our new house and wouldn't load any websites. A day or two later it was fine. H's computer was fine the whole time, so I guess my computer was just unhappy.
Also, make sure you haven't disable your internet connection!
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
Reason I asked that earlier is because sometimes the most simple thing is where your issue lies.
If it were me... seeing as how it's going to cost a hefty $ and you have a 50/50 chance of picking the wrong company to come out, I would take my computer over to a friend's house to see if I can connect to their network or not. If it works, then your issue is with Verizon, not HP.
Alternatively, find a friend with a laptop that can come over and hardwire into your router for Verizon and see if they can get connected. If so, then the issue you have is with HP, not Verizon.
