I've come across some interesting gifts lately...
The cucumber saver-which I did get for my mom as a gag stocking stuffer gift-she always finds us weird kitchen gadgets, but it could be helpful for some wives, too

And DH likes seltzer-thought about this, but it may be a waste fo $-we rarely buy sodas/seltzer... the kids did enjoy tasting sodas of the world at Epcot...

Any other Holiday gift oddities?
Re: Odd Christmas gifts...
That soda machine is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time! I want one!
The girls want zhu zhu pets, which they are NOT getting. We got MIL a foot massager (she works retail), my parents got coffee mugs with the girls' school pics on them (the co that takes school pics now offers mugs, etc). Nothing too weird, I guess.
My mom is the CAPTAIN of random gifts!
In the past I have received a bask with: Eggplant, toothpaste and hot pockets in it.
One year she gave me a thing of veggie sausage.
When i was 8 I got a block of velvetta cheese from her, No joke.
I don't know how weird it is over nerdy..but I'm trying to find a good TAPS shirt to order for DH. We love Ghost Hunters!
Otherwise..the first year I was dating DH his mom (she's so sweet, they just don't have a lot of money, and we'd only been dating for two months) just went to the Dollar Tree and got me a lot of random things, crazy socks, and a shower loofa all presented not in a stocking, but in a wine bag... I thought that was a little strange.
I think your DH and I have the same mom.
