Easy cold app recipes please

I'm having a girls night at my house this weekend..the only problem is I'm working during the day & won't have much time to make hot apps. I wanted some app recipes that I can make the day before so I can just pull them out when everyone comes over. I'm gonna do Cheese & crackers & a veggie platter.

Re: Easy cold app recipes please

  • Someone posted about cheese straws baked in the shape of thumbprint cookies with jalapeno jelly in the middle. That sounded tasty.

Also - there's stuff you could throw in a crock pot in the morning and it would be ready and hot by the evening.

Otherwise, I would suggest hummus or 7 layer dip (Mexican or Greek) with appropriate chips.

Also, some version of these http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes.aspx/breakfast-kabobs-with-yogurt-dip/ab8a3760-d914-495b-970d-c0cf88df8785 would be cute and easy to make the night before.

  • There is a really easy and delicious spinach dip recipe on the back of the packet of Knorr Vegetable Soup Mix - always a huge hit and I serve it in a bread bowl. Another hit is a jar of grape jelly and a bottle of Heinz Chili sauce thrown into a crockpot with frozen meatballs or Little Smokies - people can't stop eating them! I know it is not coled, but you could assemble it the night before and then just let it cook all day! Have fun!
  • U should post this on the What's cooking board too.  They always give good feedback
  • I really like bloody mary shrimp (super easy and you can make the night before).  I will also admit that I am a fiend for that crescent roll cream cheese veggie "pizza" thing people make.
  • I'm not sure where you live - maybe you live in a warmer area, but could you serve hot chocolate, tea, apple cider as your hot item?

I agree w/ the rest - use your crockpot.  My husband makes this dip full of fat but very good: browned hamburger, block of velveta, tub of sour cream, jar of salsa - put in crockpot and let it melt.

  • My coworker just brought a spinch dip to work, I guess the recipe is on the back of the KNORR veggie soup mix packet she put it in a big bread bowl with bread chuncks to dip.
