Infant Swimming Lessons

Hi ladies. Can anyone recommend a good place to take a child for swimming lessons? I'm thinking of enrolling my DD when she turns 6 months. I live in Waukesha, so something nearby would be great. Thank you!

Re: Infant Swimming Lessons

  • I would check into your local YMCA or recreation programs.  I take DD to our local Y, and I'm very impressed with how it's run.  They focus on getting the babies comfortable in the water, playing with floating objects in the water by reaching and kicking to get them, we sing songs and practice floating them on their backs and tummy, and we practice going under water.  DD hated the water before this, and now she actually likes going in her backyard swimming pool.  The cost for a non-member wasn't that bad either ($52) for a 10 week course.  Your rec. department might also have some summer swimming classes that might be worth checking into.  Hope that helps!  It's a great bonding experience.
  • Besides the YMCA, there is also a Swimtastic Swim School in Waukesha.  I think the prices are higher than the YMCA, but it's an option.
