So bummed about Baptism Dress ...
I called this place in Milford and her quote was ok ... $125 ... but E and I talked and we just can't justify that expense right now ... I"ll be getting something new, E needs something new, we're paying for food and a gift for her as well as a nice cake ... so if we can buy a dress for half that quote, that is what we need to do ... I'm just bummed because I've looked at dresses for Alyssa and they all just look, well, like store-bought dresses. I wanted something different for her. Oh well. There's always her 1st Communion, and she'll have an actual appreciation then for what she's wearing.
Re: So bummed about Baptism Dress ...
Wearing a store-bought dress won't be so terrible.... Maybe we can go shopping together, in fact!
I think that is what Caroline is going to end up doing for her baptism (unless I can talk my aunt into making something AGAIN). The baptism outfit that my aunt made for Jakob was a pant suit and though it was beautiful and would work for Caroline, she's already too big for it (Jakob was 8 months old at his baptism and she will be 14 months)!
I'm sorry Amye! I would be bummed too!!! We have a family dress that me, my brother, all my cousins, aunts and my mom were baptised in. I really wanted to use the dress for Brianna but I also wanted something that was unique to her. She ended up not fitting in the "family " dress.. so we had to buy one from BRU.
Could you maybe sew a piece of your wedding gown and your mothers on the inside of the dress she wears and then sew in the date/year/ and how old she was on this piece of fabric??
I didn't check on e-bay. But after thinking about it all day and talking to a friend about it some more, I have resolved myself to be ok w/ this and make it happen for Alyssa's 1st Communion. I was looking at my wedding dress, coming up with all kinds of beautiful things that can be done with it for her. So it's settled.
Thank you for the optimism and the ideas, ladies!
I left two messages and never heard back so my thought is that she just doesn't do Baptism dresses. Ah well.
