Pets

I know the question of the day was already posted, but I figured a little chatter doesn't hurt.

On Saturday, a lot of us talked about our pets.  So I'm wondering about everyone's little furbabies!  What do you have?  What's his or her name?  And how did you end up with your pet?  For a bonus, post a picture!

My cat is named lil' Bits.  I ended up with her when I met my husband.  She hated me for the first month or so that I was dating him.  I'd get hissed at, swatted at, and everything else that a cat does to say "I don't like you."  Well, one day I think she just decided to warm up to me.  She hissed and tried to bite me when I first got over to his apartment.  I was later laying on the couch while he cooked dinner for me.  All of a sudden she just jumped up and started cuddling with me.  She's been "my" cat ever since.  Before I moved in, whenever I'd go to leave she'd go to the door and start crying and try to leave with me.

Re: Pets

  • Lil' Bits looks just like a larger version of my kitten!  Her name is, "Kitty"... original, I know, but it's the only thing she'll answer too!

We have two boxers... Harley turned 2 in May and Hank turned 1 in March.  Harley was a very sick puppy (parvo) and we almost lost her, but thanks to an awesome vet she's perfectly fine now!  We got Harley from a man that raised boxers, but it was not the perfect situation... there was no way that I was leaving her at that house, even though she didn't look the greatest!  Hank came from a friend that had an accidental litter.  Harley is very, very high strung (right now she is chasing the kitten) and Hank is so laid back that he's boring, lol!

Hank is the one closest to the TV and Harley is closest to the camera... we had just come in from seeing the trick-r-treaters on Halloween!

  • Oh my I have too many animals...lol  Warning you this is going to be long.

Virginia who is a calico long hair cat I found in VA on the side of a busy road outside a motel while I was driving down from ME to start a job in Charlotte in 2001.She was an itty bitty kitten and there was no way she was going to survive. She is is our Miss Priss and drama queen in the house. Dh "adopted" her when we got together.

Then we decided to get a brother and sister kittens from a friend whose friend's cat was going to have kittens. (did you follow that?) He was going to drown them and there was no way we could have that. Orginally my husband was going to pick out one kitten but we got two since I have a soft spot for male cats that are gray. Reeces the female is a Tortie and short haired. Merlin is a male pretty much all gray with the expect of a "bow tie diamond" and the tip of his tail is white which we say is his wand. Reeces is dh cat. She only tolerates me and gives me evil stares. They will be 4 sometime later this month.

Two years ago my childhood cat who was living with us passed away he was a gray and white Tabby. Well about 2 months after he passed we kept seeing a young gray and white male cat around our house. At first we were going to leave him outside but we had critters (raccoon/possum) coming to eat the food for him. We brought him inside and is such a sweet and happy cat. Marvin is a little over 2 years old. He is smelly though I always think of the song Pheobe from Friends sings about the Smelly Cat.

Well it does not stop there. My parents had to downsize to an apartment from a house due to a job they have. We took in a cat Sienna who is almost 13 years old from them. She is an orange and white tabby. We also took in one of the dogs my parents had. His name is Keenan and he is almost 11 years old. He is a yellow lab/ Shepard mix but on the small side for both of the breeds and is yellow all over. We love Keenan but he has seperation anxiety so it makes it really hard to do things sometimes. We have learned we are more of cat people. They were both orginally rescused from the same animal shelter.

Sorry no pictures the computer hooked up to the scanner died a couple weeks ago.

  • We have a Beagle named Brandi.  She is my "stepdog" lol.   DH has had her since she was  puppie.  She is almost 14 yrs old.

  • Two dogs and a cat:

Jigsaw is a Jack Russell Terrier- 9.5 years old.  I've had him since I was in 8th grade-- he has been with me through every single boyfriend, etc.  He's my little buddy that follows me all around the house and would do anything for me.

Max is a mini-dachshund.  DH has had him since he was a puppy (he's about 10 now).  Max is well-known for running in circles-- it's possibly the funniest thing ever!

Ellie is the newest addition to our family.  We got her when she was 6 weeks old, back in May 08.  She is awesome because she tolerates our dogs and messes with them when they start to pick on her.  It's fabulous to see!  This pic was taken on one of her only trips outside the apartment.  She did NOT like it, as you can see the look in her eyes!

And I couldn't resist posting this pic:

  • I have pictures in my sig.  Our dog is 7 (but we just got her in August) and her name is Yuki and she's an American Eskimo.

Our cats are Daisy (on the right) who is 14 (but we got him at 10) and Buster (on the left) who is 2 (we rescued from a dumpster as a kitten.)

No more animals for us!  I think 3 is too many!  We wouldn't trade any of them for the world, but when the sad day comes that we're down to 2 pets, we're NOT going to start replacing them!

  • We have two cats, both male.

Toby is a 1 1/2 years old. We adopted him last April bc we decided it was time for a pet. We always said we wanted one, so once we got fully settled in the house, we went to the humane society.

Guster is 8 months old. We found us and we ended up adopting him. One day he just showed up on our doorstep and wouldn't leave. He was so dirty and tiny and dehydrated. So we gave him food & water and took him to a vet to get checked out. We went to the humane society 2 weeks later to officially adopt him.

Their pics are in my sig. Toby is the fat orange tabby haha. Guster we believe is a Japanse bobcat mixed with something else.

  • We got our first pet together in June.  She's a dachshund/Jack Russell mix.  She looks like a Jack Russell in her markings, but she has a long dachshund body and dachshund behavior (burrowing, licking) and long hair.  She's the sweetest puppy (about 8 months old).  I always had cats growing up but I am a total convert now!  (although I only like small dogs).

  • I have a cat and a dog. I say "I" because in all reality they are mine...DH has allergies so he's not really the animal person, he just deals with them for me!

I had the cat, an Asian Leopard Bengal named Thai before we met. He's really a cool cat..he's very cuddly, and meows non-stop which can be annoying, he plays fetch better then the dog and he kills all bugs. His belly has spots like a cheetah.

I got the dog almost a year after we met and knew about the allergies. She's a Hairless Chinese Crested and her name is Zoey. She's another cuddle bug and loves snuggling under the blankets, she loves getting dressed and her wardrobe rivals my own and she can run really fast for a little thing!
