Bridal Shower game ideas needed

I need some help with the game for my cousin's shower.  Before some of you comment that games are lame, please keep in mind that this bride wanted games.  This is her only shower and both friends & family will be there so no "naughty" games for this mixed crowd.
Here's what I have so far:
- guess the amount of candy in a jar (candy in the party's color scheme)
- Quiz for the Bride about the Groom (about 5 minutes)
- Purse raid (call out items people may have in their purse) or weighing purses (the heaviest or lightest wins)
- Panty decorating. I've done this at a shower. You give out white cotton panties and fabric markers to decorate.  Bride picks the winner.  But the problem is i cannot find packs of white cotton panties in her size.  She's tiny and would need a size 5.  I can find white that are too big or I can find her size in prints.

Any other ideas on what other craft/game we could do if I can't find the white panties?  Something that she might actually be able to use?
Or any other games you would suggest for a mixed crowd like this.  Preferably not bridal bingo.  I'd rather be ready with a few games & maybe not use 1 or 2 than to run out of entertainment.  There will be 10 +/- of us so there won't be a long gift opening process either.
Thanks!!!

Re: Bridal Shower game ideas needed

  • If you have access to a video camera, my girlfriends put together a great game for me.  They asked and video taped my fiance answering 12 questions about our relationship.  Everyone had to guess how many questions we would get the same.  Then we played the video and paused it after every question so I could answer.

It was really cute and sweet!

  • Couple of thoughts:

-I think that your quiz will take longer than 5 mintues.  Remember, you will need time to hand out pencils, paper, explain the game.

-I'd skip the panty decorating and do one of the following options:

    BabyFruit Ticker
  • Sorry about that - my computer freaked out on me.

What I was going to say was:

Instead of decorating panties (will she REALLY wear them?) I would have each guest decorate a scrabooking page. Having a theme might help people with a direction. Advice, recipies, a favorite memory of the bride/groom as children, etc, etc.

If someone knows how to quilt, you could have each guest bring fabric, or decorate fabric squares at the shower to be made into a quilt.

What I would highly suggest is a picture slide show of the bride and groom.  It takes up time, is fun, not hard to do and people enjoy (as long as it isn't too long).

    BabyFruit Ticker
  • I'm a fan of collecting advice and/or recipes.  This could be done through out the shower.  If you want to make it a game... you could collect in a basket and have the bride pick one out and read and that person gets a prize.

Also, if you're set on something craft... how about guests decorating white kitchen towels instead of panties?

I LOVE the kitchen towels idea!  Thank you!  I was a bit nervous the panties would go to waste.  So this is even better and people can decorate them per season.
Thanks for the help. I came up with a couple more games:
    - What's that white stuff - see if guests can tell the diff between several white powders: salt, sugar, powdered sugar, baking powder, flour, etc
    - draw a pic of the groom in his skivvies (while doing the drawing on your head)
-And setting up a "take a pic" with the bride along with a photo printer that the guest can take home.

I'm all set now.  Thank you ladies!

  • Glad you're all set!  I like the "white stuff" one!

I've always watned to do the take a pic thing with the photo printer, but I'm always scared that it'll get too tricky.  Do you have any tips?

I did this for my 30th bday and it turned out great (but guest took pics as a couple or a group).  I borrowed a photo printer that prints 4x6 only so I didn't have to worry about cutting.  I bought Christmas card photo frame type cards on clearance last year and cut off the card part to only have the paper frame.  We set up the camera on a tripod towards a corner with props (it was a Roaring 20's party).  It was easy to just take out the memory card take it to the printer & guests printed their own photo. I had the paper frames nearby that they slipped the photo into themselves.
I think it was important to have the camera on a tripod, one specific area for pics, and the printer across the room so things wouldn't get crowded.  We'd print after about 10 pics or so.  And it was good to have a couple people that knew how to work the printer.
For this bridal shower I had some of the same paper frames left and the color scheme works great!  I just need to find a good spot for taking the pics.  Corner's work well.
