So what colors do you do your tree in??
See.. DH and I have been arguing about it! I want all white lights with plum, gold, and white lights.. with a big bow on top
DH says he doesn't like that.. he wants a traditional tree with multicolored lights and multicolored ornaments and star ora angel.. ect
So how do you decorate your tree?
Re: Christmas tree decor..
I used to do mine all white and silver with snowflake and angel ornaments. But DH came with his childhood nutcracker collection, so now it's white and silver with snowflakes, angels and nutcrackers.
Always white lights.
I think I'm going to start switching every other year with a different decorations, though. My H's Aunt does this with traditional decorations and Norwegian ones, and it works.
We are ALL OVER the place. We have colored lights, glass ornaments of EVERY color, sentimental ornaments etc. There is definetly no theme!
We have no theme. I do tend to think of red, green, gold and silver as "christmas" colours so rarely buy any ornament soutside that colour range.
I do buy fairly traded ornaments though and a lot of our first ornaments were cast offs from my parents. Every year I buy one or two extra ornaments from a shop called Trade Aid that only stocks fairly traded items.
Of couse we forgot to take pics before the holiday, but this is our tree from last year(purples, black and silver). We have purple lights, but I may change to white this year. We haven't done this year's yet.
My hubby likes a more traditional look as well, so we have decided to change it every other year. While on our HM in WDW, we bought some gorgeous ornaments that we chose together. Compromise is the key!
We put both white and multi colored lights on the tree. I used to alternate our light choices, but have realized we like both on.
Ornaments, depends on what I want to do. I can do coordinated sets/colors or I can do a variety. I have a lot of stuff for one tree.
White lights, but we have all different kinds of ornaments. I like "theme" trees, but I'm too traditional to put away my cutesy multicolored ornaments
One year I'd love to get a smaller tree and do a hot pink theme, but I would still have our big tree be the beautiful traditional tree full of the random ornaments we've got over the years.
Up until this year we always had an artificial, pre-lit tree with white lights. This year we got a real tree and put on multi-colored lights.
But there's no "theme" whatsoever. We each have TONS of ornaments from childhood until now, so some are pretty, some are gaudy - but they all mean something to us. The tree topper is a really old angel that my grandma used on her tree, then gave to my mom and we used it on our tree growing up and now it's mine.

Once we get a bigger house, we'll probably have 2+ trees so that I can do a theme tree and the no theme tree.
No real theme - White lights, multi ornaments we've collected over the years, red tree skirt and silver star on top.
Next year we'll be in our new house (currently building) and I have plans to have another tree downstairs with more of a theme.
Upstairs tree is all blue/white/silver with blue and white lights. The tree sits in front of the picture window and goes with the LED snowflake lights on the house, plus our living room is brown/beige with blue highlights.
Downstairs tree is multi colored lights and hodge podge decorations. This is the tree that has our ornaments from when we were kids, ones our kids have collected and made plus other ornaments. This tree has glass ornaments while the upstairs tree has no glass. Hardwood floors in living room and 3 animals in the house equal bad idea for glass!
We have 2 trees. Upstairs one is DH's. It's a silver aluminum tree circa 1959 with white lights and green, red, and white ornaments. Has lots of ball ornaments and then some blown glass ones. Green star on top. It's our retro tree.
Downstairs tree is mine, well, the whole downstairs and outside are mine. :-) I came into the marriage doing an ivory and gold theme. All my decor downstairs (and there's a lot) are all ivory and gold. White lights on the tree. Ivory and gold angel on top. I have lots of butterflies, birds, crosses, fleur de lis, and angels on my tree. I also hunt for ivory and gold ornaments in my travels so there are a lot of personal ornaments on the tree, too. I also put ivory roses and gold berry sprigs throughout the tree. Ivory and gold just glows and adds a lovely warmth to the house. I love it.
