Valentine's Day

DH and I are planning a weekend getaway for Valentine's Day because we both have a 3 day weekend (due to President's Day).  We are looking for somewhere romantic with a few things to do, but not too much (spa, maybe snowtubing, maybe shopping, etc).  I tried posting this on the travel board as I frequent there, but most of those girls aren't from this area and we would like to stay about 3 hours or so within State College area.  We've been thinking about the Poconos, Seven Springs, Hershey/Lancaster etc, but any thoughts/ideas from you ladies would be greatly appreciated!

TIA!!!

Re: Valentine's Day

  • How about the Finger Lakes region of New York?  I'm most familiar with Seneca Lake, but there are several lakes and they have B&Bs, wineries, Holiday Valley is nearby for skiing/tubing, and Ithaca is also close by.

  • I second going to the finger lakes! I was there 3 weeks ago and loved it. I went with my aunt and sadly DH doesn't like wine so it'll always be a girls weekend away for me.

The Poconos are cheesy romantic and could be fun for Valentines. We've been to a place called Cove Haven twice and while we don't like the food we love the room with the private pool and whatnot. If you go there pack a cooler with snacks and drinks.

  • What about the Heritage Hotel in York? They have a spa and snow fun and are near a couple of wineries as well. http://www.hhgr.com/packages.html

  • Thanks ladies!!  You had some really good ideas and they aren't totally out of this world price-wise.  If anyone else has ideas bring them on....we aren't making any decisions till Christmas/New Years!

  • I recently got married at the Inn at Leola Village and loved it there for a "weekend get-a-way"

Leola is about an hour from Harrisburg (outside of Lancaster) and they have a 4 diamond resort there. The rooms ae very unique and most have a cozy fireplace, jaccuzzi for two, large open showers, cozy slippers and bathrobs, flat screen tvs, etc. They have a very nice resteraunt (Restaurant Mazzi) at the Inn as well as a full service spa. They have "couples" specials too, like a couples massage with dinner and wine with strawberries in your room.

It's close to Lancaster and the Tanger Outlets and there are a lot of sites and things to do. It's really close to home too, so in case you get snow, it won't be stressful to drive home.
