Thank you girls for your guidance with defrosting bm! DH & I had a FABULOUS time on our first post-baby date to the wedding. The steak was fantastic (Gibbet Hill in Groton, MA) and dancing was so much fun too. Anna did great with my parents, but my mom did have a question that I'm not sure of the answer to... You defrost bm, do not feed it to baby, is this right: you can leave it at room temp for 4 hours or put it in the fridge for 24 hours. I think that's the rule, but I wanted to double check Also, I never knew how fast bm defrosted!!! I thought it was a process, not a quick job! Thanks!
Re: Thanks for BM Help!
I either defrot it in the fridge overnight...or if I need some real quick, I will just run the bag of BM under hot water in the sink and it defrosts quickly and then you can give it to the baby right away. I think you are right about leaving the BM out for 4 hrs or in the fridge of 24...but Kaelyn never really minded if tehbottle was cold/ warm / room temp....it is good if they learn to take it multiple ways that way if you are not able to heat it up they will still drink it.
Glad you guys had a great time at the wedding....doesn't it feel wierd though to be away from you little girl?
I believe that's correct. However, I personally don't leave it out, ever, for that long ... I know that I can ... but I don't ...
So glad that you had a great time at the wedding!! We haven't left Alyssa yet ... we're supposed to on our anniversary for a couple hours and already I am nervous about doing so!
SYT!!
Thats great that you two could get away and have a great time and that Anna was a good girl for your mom!!
For the breast milk I just want to be sure what you are saying, you can leave fresh BM out for 5 hours not frozens BM that should only be thawed out in the fridge on under warm water but given to the baby right away if run under warm water. The rule of thumb is 5....5 hours out of the fridge, 5 days (fresh) BM is good in the fridge then 5 months in the freezer.
We have done 2 hours out of the fridge (almost 3) but never 5 hours although I am sure its fine.
Thanks girls- we did have a great time!
Beth- I think you answered what I was thinking (is it bad that a day later I don't remember what I meant? HAH). Thanks
