So...if the weather people are right
who wants to volunteer to pick me up on Saturday if it is in fact snowy/icy. Because this California girl does not do ice on roads. Snow? I can handle. Ice? NO way. I freak the f out. I feel like my car would need a huge inflatable bumper around it.
Normally, I just make DH drive, but seeing as he's still in CA for another week...crap! I'm worried about the weather for Saturday's GTG! (and I"m all the way down in the Tigard area)
***Hey Weather? Please hold on onthe ice for another 10 days or so, k?***

Re: So...if the weather people are right
Really?!?! Snow?!?! How come it doesn't show up on my weather? That makes me happy! Except that I'm a wuss and I'm scared to drive in ice, too. I might be bringing a chauffeur.
Are you close to me? If you are I can come get you!
I just heard it on the news this AM, but haven't seen it on weather.com (I'm an avid weather checker!), so who knows.
I'm off hwy 99 in Tigard, though!

Sooo...welcome to Oregon, our weather people suck and like to freak people out for big ratings. The only one I ever trust is weather.com, which has Friday as 39 and sunny, and Saturday as 41 and slight showers.
You should be ok, no ice or snow this weekend!
I'll be out at Washington Square & Babies R Us on 99 on Saturday afternoon .. if you don't feel comfortable driving, give me a call/text (I'll PM you my #) and I can swing by and get you
OK...so it must be a universal weatherman thing. San Diego weather people SUCKED! Yes, it was pretty much always sunny and never rained, but they would still find a way to freak people out. ("RAIN???SHOWERS?? FLOODED STREETS??LANDSLIDES????? OH NOOOOO!" when it was really like a 1/4" of rain)

Cool, because I don't even know where 99 is.

Sweet! Thanks! I'll wait it out until Friday and see what they say...
I actually just learned to drive in snow IN Michigan last January! My grandparents live in Bay City, and we went during a very snowy long weekend! DH actually made me drive so I would get used to it! (but there wasn't really any ice...just snow)

okee dokee -- i'm pm-ing you my phone number...so just call me if you decide either way, i'm excited to meet you and everyone else saturday!
funny thing is, even though there's crazy snow and ice in MI, i've heard the roads get worse here because there are no plows or salt trucks..i'm anxious to see how it is!

Thanks Daisy!
(There are NO plows??? Crap...I'm screwed if it snows then!)

We have snow plows, de-icers and sanders. They do the main roads first- then they don't always make it to the side streets. when you hear that it gets bad here is because we have hills and bridges and alot of people try to drive in the bad weather that don't know how and don't have proper cars/tires etc.
Like...people from California?
Hahahahahahah
But seriously, people up here drive SO bad in the snow. Then they will get scared and leave their car just parked in the middle of the road. It's ridiculous. If you don't have all wheel drive AND snow tires AND know how to drive, please stay off the roads when it's bad weather!
Hilarious Jen! Just hilarious!
However, Dh IS from California and can totally drive in any weather condition. But only because he's lived in snowy places. I have too, but never drove in it (didn't have a car)
I have all wheel drive, chains, all weather tires (not snow tires though)...but I just make DH drive! (and install the chains...I'm pretty useless, aren't I?)
I like to thing in regular weather, I'm one of the few nice and not insane CA drivers.

Haha
I hate driving in the snow. DH is really good at it, so he just plays cheuffer (why can't I spell that??) and drives me around during snowtime, or I stay home in front of the fireplace with a book!
well that's a relief....everyone i've talked to...seriously has told me there are no plows or salt just a few sanders....so i was expecting the worst. glad to hear there are at least some plows and sand i've never seen sand in action though, i'm so used to salt...but frankly i'm glad to be rid of the salt. my pants used to have 2 + inches of salt on them (especially because i'm short) for 5 months of the year...not to mention salt all over the boots, etc.

I suggest you take TRimet if possible. It probably wont snow it is pretty warm out there, um snow wise, but it will rain and freeze to ground....if it stays cold I am guessing the GTG will be near impossible to get to. Chains useless on ice, you need studded tires and well today is too late to get them.
Good luck, go put on some wool sock over your shoes and take some fun ice pictures.
