how would you describe this?
I'm working on an invite suite. It is in May, on the Jersey shore.
It is not black-tie, but semi-formal. The groom is not wearing a tie. The bride sees the guests in raw silk, linen, short dresses. I need to include on the invite.
What do you think about these?
Coastal Chic, New England Festive, Coastal Festive
My brain is fried. Anyone want to partake in helping me?
Re: how would you describe this?

What do her guests consist of....lots of younger friends? Or mostly older family?
I would have no clue what "festive" would mean in terms of attire...but my aunts and uncles would be totally lost (even at chic)...and I think they would assume that means something specific. I would stick with something not so made up. Words like casual. I guess it's one of those things where you want to make it sound fun and interesting/unique....but I think going practical would be much easier for guests.
Semi-formal coastal attire?...something like that.
LOL!
There is a mixture of ages, but an extremely cultured and affluent family. So I'm not as concerned about anyone not "getting it" to be honest, but a fun and catchy way to phrase it.
Is the bride set on having a description on there? In my mind, unless it states black-tie, I'd consider a wedding to automatically be semi-formal. Depending on the guest list, I would think people would be more confused by a term (and then frantically calling the other guests to see what they're wearing!)
Then again, what do I know- I actually had someone show up at our wedding in jeans. Oy.
She is because she really wants to achieve this look. I see your view too, but because of the location, time of year and the feeling she is trying to evoke, she wants to be more specific, without sending a checklist! (if that makes any sense). KWIM?
I agree with Labbie (but again, I also had someone show up to my wedding in jeans - oh and a wife beater....so hey, you know, I might be completely clueless too)
If I had to pick one of the 3 I'd pick Coastal Chic
Wow Gibby- a wife beater, too? Guess I should consider myself lucky that our "jeans guy" at least wore a shirt with sleeves, lol!
thanks! This is what she is trying to evoke!
coastal chic is great but just some others:
seaside elegant
nautical stylish
cute! Like these too! Thanks.
