My husband and I have agreed to foster a 4 month old cairn terrier puppy. He is a rescue from a puppy mill. The rescue agency we are working with is Cause 4 Paws (www.Cause4PawsRescue.org).
His name is Jingle and we have had him for about 24 hours now. He is a little timid but very sweet and just wants to be around people. He and Nessa (my 7 year old female cairn terrier) are also getting along well. We can only foster him through Christmas when we leave for LA, so we are crossing our fingers he can get adopted before then so he doesnt have to switch foster homes (or go back to the vet to be boarded).
Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested. This is his petfinder ad: http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=15268872. Cause 4 Paws does require adoption to be local (I think a 60 mile radius) and they also require a home inspection.
Re: Cairn Terrier puppy in need of adoption
That would be great! Cairns are small dogs - their typical adult weight is 14 - 18 lbs. I'm guessing he will be more on the 18 lb side.
Just to give you a breed reference - Toto from the Wizard of Oz was a Cairn. While most people know Westies - Cairns are their close cousin. The main difference are Westies are all white and Cairns are everything but white. They are very intelligent, spunky dogs.
Thanks!! I will pass along his petifinder reference to a couple of people I know who are looking.
Man is he the cutest little thing.
Did you find a home for this little puppy yet? if not... please email me, my husband and I would love to adopt him!
