Time Warner - All the Best Lite

Anyone have this?  It's the $99 plan for phone, internet and cable w/ dvr.

We have the all the best right plan now, but I want to call and try to lower our bill and I am thinking that the "lite" package might be fine.  I'm mostly concerned about the internet speed...

ETA:  Has anyone had luck lowering their bill?  Since we moved into our house our bill has gone from $99 to $159 w/o adding anything...we were obviously on a promotion to start, but I'd like to get it back down to that initial level.

Re: Time Warner - All the Best Lite

  • I hadn't heard of this, but we just switched over to them for internet instead of our phone company's DSL (which I'm thinking would be similar to the non-high speed Roadrunner).

To be honest, it's a *little* faster, but if it saved me a ton of money I'd have no problem going to a non-high speed roadrunner. We don't download a ton of stuff, so not sure if that would be different.

  • I don't know the plan, but love to hear if it works. We're in the same plan as you right now.

We did manage to lower our bill a few years ago when they started going to packages. We were basically paying for everything a la carte, so when I called to ask about the package, the rep changed it immediately.

  • I've been meaning to call them since these packages came out...the last time I talked with them they said we were on the cheapest to get HD.

BUT...not that this is what you were asking...but have you thought about getting rid of your land line? They have cable and internet lite package (in Buffalo) for $69.90 (for 12 months, of course) not sure what it jumps to after that.

  • I've tried to get a cheaper package as well, but the only option we had would have gotten rid of pretty much every channel Gavin and I watch.  So for now, we're stuck paying the high bill.  However, I agree with Telyco...cutting out a land line would be one way to save money.

  • Mission FAIL.  We can't get rid of the phone because our in laws are in canada, we've done the cost analysis ad nauseum and it's alway more cost effective to keep the landline.

I just called and didn't get anywhere.  Switching to all the best lite would only save $5 and they weren't willing to give me the introductory rate.  I could save a little more by doing a 2 year price lock, but of course, then you are locked in for two years.

I gave the whole "well verizon fios and direct tv are only $99 and they are offering free installation, etc." spiel and that didn't get me anywhere except an earful about why TWC is so much better and all the bad things about direct tv.

    Oh well, I tried.

  • The only other thing you could do is call to cancel if it is in your name and then have your DH call to re-sign up under his name.  I *think* that way you are still getting the initial start up rate.  And you may not even make it that far bc when you call to cancel, they may just give it to you to get you to stay.
