Decade?!?!
Yesterday morning while driving to work, the morning DJ pointed out that this was not only the end of the year (which they usually wrap up with random top 10 lists) but the end of the decade (2000-2009). It threw me. I'm sort of amazed at how monumental this decade has been (at least for me) and how quickly ten years flies by.
The most interesting thing from the radio show was the biggest album of the decade: it was Beatles One (released in 2001). I found that very interesting.
So, I thought I'd do a quick poll -- name one (or a couple) monumental event(s) in your life from each year of the decade:

2000 - Graduated from middle school
2001 - Met my husband at a football game
2002 - Started dating my husband after a basketball game
2003 - Became cheerleading captain (yes, this was a milestone for me. Judge away) and went to Nationals
2004 - Graduated from high school
2005 - Transferred college from NH to a community college for a semester to the college I'd finally get my degree at.
2006 - My brother left for Iraq for a year and I was devastated.
2007 - Got engaged
2008 - Graduated from College
2009 - Got married
2000 - I travelled to London for the first time
2001 - I graduated high school/started college, broke up with my first "real" boyfriend
2002 - I met my best friend, started dating a new guy, moved into my first off-campus apartment, and joined a co-ed fraternity
2003 - I went to Mexico for the first time
2004 - Graduated college, got my driver's license, turned 21, started graduate school (round 1)
2005 - Broke up with the guy I started dating in 2002, went to Europe, met my (now) husband
2006 - Graduated from grad school, started my first real 9-5 job
2007 - (I honestly can't remember anything monumental about 2007...sad)
2008 - Quit the 9-5 job to go back to grad school, got engaged, started work on my second M.A.
2009 - Got married
I'm with you on this. However, the radio DJ got it stuck in my head, and I'm bored this morning :P

2000 - Lived in NYC and worked at an ad agency.
2001 - Went back to school to get my Masters (in Malibu).
2002 - Graduated from Masters, moved to D.C. for Ph.D.
2003 - Trained for a marathon that got cancelled due to the Iraq war. Ran a half-maraton at Disney World instead.
2004 - My a** of an ex came over to my house (a year after our break-up), asked me to close my eyes, got down on one knee, and showed me the engagement ring he wanted me to see before he sold it.
2005 - Grandma died :-(; got my dog Jasmine
2006 - Met DH
2007 - Moved to Illinois
2008 - Finished PhD, got a job, bought a house
2009 - Got married and got knocked up!
2000 - DH and I broke up
2001 - DH and I got back together, Graduated from undergrad
2002 - Discovered I loathed my ILs and began the mental descent from having any respect for them (transformation now complete, btw)
2003 - My grandma passed away
2004 -started law school
2005 - got my job at the DA's office and found out I wanted to work with CPS cases
2006 - Uneventful, sorry
2007 - graduated from law school
2008 - First post-law school joband engaged
2009 - Married

2000 - was in my second semester of my first year of college
2001 - my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer
2002 - went to a fraternity formal with DH - though we were not dating at the time
2003 - graduated from college!
2004 - broke up with my college BF, moved out on my own for the first time from living with him
2005 - dated probably the biggest jacka$$ of all time. the reason i was hesitant to begin dating DH
2006 - started dating DH and my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer (he has beat cancer twice now!)
2007 - went to Miami for the Orange Bowl to see UL play (coincidentally it was the last time we had a decent football team)
2008 - got engaged
2009 - got married and bought my first house!
Mine will be more random highlights instead of milestones.
2000 - in between freshman and sophomore semesters, I worked three jobs -- 70-80 hour weeks.
2001 - year from hell. Got cheated on, dumped, suffered strep, had tonsils out
2002 - scandalous and drunk year
2003 - graduated from college, met DH, started first adult job
2004 - DH and I moved into our first apartment together
2005 - Quit two jobs and started at the job where I am currently
2006 - BFF got married
2007 - Start of my "lifestyle change" to lose weight and beginning talks of engagement rings. Also moved into a new apartment
2008 - Became engaged
2009 - Got married and laid off

2003 - lost both of my grandparents within 6 weeks, left school and moved home

2005 - changed majors which added yet another year to school...
2006 - worked my a$$ off as a pre-med while working full time in a doctor's office and part time in a lab. Rough year...
2007 - graduated from college (finally), got engaged!
2008 - Made a crazy New Years Resolution and kept it! I took a trip every.single.month in 2008. To recap: 1/08 Sonoma, 2/08 Vail, 3/08 Utah, 4/08 Paris & Belgium, 5/08 New Orleans & LA, 6/08 Dublin, 7/08 London & DC, 8/08 Martha's Vineyard & Nevis, 9/08 Cabo, 10/08 LA, 11/08 Charlottesville & Boston, 12/08 Palm Beach. BEST YEAR EVER.

2000 - Celebrated the turn of the new year in NYC, in what was probably the most fun night of my life at that point.
2001 - Lived in Prague for 6 months, returning only to watch my sister graduate high school.
2002 - Graduate college. Got my cat.
2003 - Moved in with boyfriend and to get away from roommate (who is awesome friend but not good roommate)
2004 - Started the master's program.
2005 - Got a Prius.
2006 - Went to China.
2007 - Met my now husband.
2008 - Quit everything to attend UCLA full time for a PhD.
2009 - Drove across the country (after getting married)

2000 - Graduated from middle school, actually the school I went to for eight and a half years straight. My great uncle died and it was devastating for me.
2001 - Started high school - a small Catholic high school 45 minutes from home. Joined the soccer team there.
2002 - Broke up with my HS sweetheart, legit thought I would marry him someday. Won Offensive Player of the Year on my soccer team.
2003 - Got my drivers license and my first car.
2004 - Graduated high school / started college.
2005 - Met and started dating my husband.
2006 - Moved in with my husband into our first apartment.
2007 - Went to Disney and NYC for the first time. Moved into our second apartment.

2001 - Got in my first (and only) fist fight, went on my first spring break trip, visited NYC for the first time
2002 - Spent my first summer away from home, studying abroad in Spain
2003 - Got an internship at Ford and moved to Michigan for the summer, meeting some more great friends and started an off-again, on-again long distance relationship that lasted for the next 3 years
2004 - Graduated from college, moved to Kentucky, started my first real full time job, bought my first brand new car, got my first apartment on my own and lived by myself for the first time, got my first dog, and started dating a total ass that I worked with and who was my neighbor
2005 - The above mentioned ass cheated on my in February, bought my house, went back to on-again, off-again guy, attended my first Kentucky Derby, started grad school, and met my husband
2006 - My grandfather had a heart attack (but made it thankfully), went on a cruise with my husband for our 1 year anniversary for my first trip to the Caribbean, got the 2nd dog as a birthday present for DH, bought my convertible
2007 - Went to the Orange Bowl with DH, quit my job at ford so I wouldnt have to move to Michigan, started my current job, went to Derby for the first time not in the infield, my grandmother died, my mom was hospitalized with brain aneurisms, graduated from grad school
2008 - got engaged, missed Christmas with my parents for the first time
2009 - Got married, took my 2nd trip to the Caribbean, got an SUV

2005 - major party year--don't remember much
2006 - Met DH, became pregnant, moved twice, quit my job, had my daughter.

2008 - Had my son in April, got engaged in November.
2009 - Got married
2000: I was 16. Got a car, went to Israel. Good stuff.
2001: hmm. I got my braces off and I think things really went uphill from there.
2002: graduated high school. went away to college
2003: transferred schools after one semester. PHEW. Went to the SEC championship, which was probably the most fun EVER.
2004: I can really only remember years by the pictures I took from them... all I remember about 2004 is that I have a picture of my ex boyfriend dancing with a huge dog. So yeah - that happened.
2005: I mentioned this yesterday - started dating husband, went on tons of trips abroad as well as in the US, turned 21 and really defined my group of best friends and had a ton of fun with them. And katrina. That too.
2006: hmm... H and I went on our first trip together... to Arkansas. We couldn't find anywhere nice to eat and ended up having to eat at Bennigans. That may be the last time I willingly went to a chain restaurant.
2007: I'll try to keep the sad out of this post. In 07 my H and I went on our first plane together, and then went on a crazy long road trip from Louisiana to California 10 minutes after my college graduation.
2008: got engaged, moved to the incredibly awesome city I currently live in (note sarcasm). H started med school. We went on another ridiculously long road trip to Canada. Good times.
2009: got married, adjusted to incredibly awesome city (yet still don't love it), about to go to BFF's wedding, traveled to New Orleans a lot for good times with my best friends. It's been fun.

2002 - Started high school, was a starter for the varsity softball team

2006 -graduated high school, lost my v card, went to college
2007 - moved home from college, bought my first brand new car and met my now husband
