Who's the toughest to shop for on your list?

Me? My MIL for sure. She doesn't like the usual mom stuff. So it's always a struggle...

Re: Who's the toughest to shop for on your list?

  • our list has shrunk considerably in recent years.  and the toughest person to buy for is actually the hub. he's one of those "give vs. receive" kinda guys and rarely drops hints.  the total opposite of me.  Wink

and that's why you are a perfect fit for each other!

my dad is really difficult to shop for...I've basically given up and just send cards now for birthdays, father's day, etc.    I'm a horrible daughter. :/

Same here. Further complicated by that my family shys away from couple gifts and all ask me what to give him. Last year I gave all my ideas away to them and then got him tickets to a football game.... This year I have no idea what to do...

  • H.  He says he wants something and then POOF! he gets it for himself.

I bought him knives for Christmas.

  • My mom. We're total opposites, so I usually like to ask her what she wants." I usually get her spa giftcards, perfumes she likes, etc. This year me and my brothers are getting her a remote car starter.

I do wish she would ask ME. This year for my birthday she bought me a porcelain nativity scene

    Confused

  • I'm not purchasing gifts for anyone other than the princess this year and I'm having a heck of time with her Santa list. She wants a cell phone, Nintendo DIS, and my personal favorite, "uthowsin dolrs" which is her phonetic first grade spelling of $1000.

I'm baking cookies and giving a beautifully handwritten and heartfelt card with a photo of the Princess and I inside to everyone else.

  • I'm not really planning on buying gifts for anyone this year, which is surprisingly easy! Yes

That's MH too.  I already posted about this in the FFFC thread on MM.

He might get some socks from me.

Well there goes the gift tag idea!

  • Great question.

I feel that giving gifts to relatives are the most difficult, especially since their weight has changed (throughout the years)  of course, mine has too.

I used to buy sweaters or robes, and now I think I should be a bit more sensitive and find something else, but that "something else" has been difficult.  (They don't like candles, slippers, blankets, hats or scarves).

  • Oh man, they are all bad... MIL, Grandma IL and my dad.  Ugh.

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • Ugh. Nevermind. I just realized we DO have some people to buy for. Yuck.

Have I mentioned how much I hate obligated gift giving? Super Angry

Thats MH as well. I just decided from now on I'm just going to stick to weekend get aways as gifts for him because he doesnt give me any hints but when he does he'll eventually buy it on his own.

The ILs are the worst to shop for! Our backup gift is either show tickets or dinner gift cards.

Oh yeah. Mine too. She's not frilly or outdoorsy but she loves to sit on the patio and watch the dogs run around so we got her this really neat outdoor fire pit thing from Lowes. Reallly nice.
