Secret Santa with Jewish co-worker?
We drew names for secret santa today at work. We all signed up for it. I drew the name of a woman who I know is Jewish. She signed up for it and obviously isn't offended by the action, but I'm unsure how to "wrap" the gift or which "little gifts" (M-T - under 5, F up to 20) to give and how to present them?
Any suggestions?
Re: Secret Santa with Jewish co-worker?
I'd assume since she signed up to be part fo the exchange she doesnt mind. I'd avoid anything christmas themed, but otherwise I'd give what I would normally. candles, chocolate, etc And just wrap them like i normally would. They make plenty of Hanukkah themed paper and gift bags.
Blue and white or Hanukkah gift bags would be nice, I think. Or just generic happy holidays design.
She would probably appreciate you putting a little thought into it, even if she wouldn't be offended by Christmas traditions/wrapping.
Yeah, I missed the "what to give" part, sorry.
Like pp said, normal stocking stuffers- candy, candles, hot cocoa and a mug, Starbucks gift card, etc.
I bet you can find little trinkets that are Hanukkah themed!
This exactly. I've participated in quite a few secret santa exchanges and I can't think of a single one where anyone gave presents that were necessarily Christmas related - scarves, gift cards, movies, cds, books, mugs, etc. are usually nondenominational. For wrapping, as long it it doesn't have Santa or Jesus on it, you're probably fine. My Channukah wrapping has snowflakes, snowmen, penguin, all sorts of colors.
This. I wouldn't over do it on the hanukkah theme. Just normal gifts and normal paper.
