Michelle Duggar gave birth to her 19th child yesterday. She was premature and weighs 1lb 6oz.

The complications and troubles that poor baby is going to face would scare me into not having anymore kids. But I bet it won't stop them.

Very sad.
I'll admit I'm surprised there was an issue with her pregnancy. For some reason I thought that because she's a pregnancy pro it would be smooth sailing. Maybe I'm warped by all the "throwing a hot dog down a hallway" jokes.

My sister had a baby that was 1lb 11oz. and is healthy young man today no problems. I hope the best for Michelle and baby duggar. It can be very stressful for everyone.
I didn't comment on this thread because I was sure that nothing good could come out of this situation. It's refreshing to hear that your sister's situation turned out for the best! Hopefully the Duggars' baby stands the same chance. As crazy as they are, they still don't deserve what they're going through. Neither does that little girl.
This article says preeclampsia is a rare pregancy disease affecting 5-8% of pregnancies, but I have heard just this year of roughly 8 or so pregnancies of friends, family, or friends of family who suffered with this either mildly or severly as in the case of Michele Duggar.
A good friend of mine, J, delivered her second baby boy at 26 weeks (1 lb 8 oz and 12" long) he is doing so great...he finally was able to wear actual baby clothes yesterday for the first time! And they say he should be home safe and sound and healthy in about 4 weeks. Her first son was also born premature (6 weeks) but is the epitome of a 2 year old, rambunctions, fabulous, healthy and developmentally on point!
I feel for the Duggars and Michele, but I hope this makes her think about what she has and not what's coming. I'm sure having 19 pregnancies has contributed to this situation, poor little baby. I hope they come through with flying colors. Thoughts and prayers!
I had a cousin who was born at 1lb 8oz and he is a happy 23 year old. Here's to hoping the Duggars kid stays healthy too.
