What is the best time to travel out of the San Diego airport on Sundays?

I have to start traveling with my job. I will need to leave on Sundays. Anyone have any suggestions what the best time to leave would be to avoid traffic but not blow my whole weekend?

Re: What is the best time to travel out of the San Diego airport on Sundays?

  • Sundays... anytime!  My husband travels and usually leaves on Sundays, he leaves at different times depending on his destination, we hardley ever hit traffic unless there is an event down there... like tomorrow at 5 is the parade of lights on the bay...Im sure there will be traffic then. Good luck with the traveling!!
  • I have never encountered traffic at the airport, any day of the week.  My husband has been traveling every single Sunday for the last month, and leaves at various times between 1 and 5 and has never had an issue.

    Oops!!  Double post!

We have probably driven right by each other on sundays.  I pick up DH most sundays between 4-5pm :)

As for a good time to fly out on a sunday---midday tends to be best.  If fog rolls in during the late afternoon the airport turns into a nightmare.  If there is a big event in town (comic con, etc) the airport can be busy.  A lot of it depends on what airline/terminal you will be flying out of.  The commuter terminal is always super easy to deal with because they dont handle the same amount of flights or passengers as the other terminals.
