What are you getting your FIL???

I have ABSOLUTELY no idea what to get him. Neither does DH. They live in a VERY small town in West Texas and enjoy the slower paced life. I just really have no idea what to get him. He is a wonderful, thoughtful man (he's a psychologist) and I really want to get him something he'd like. Any ideas? Under $100 preferrably.

Re: What are you getting your FIL???

  • My FIL does alot of traveling and he is really into politics and history. We got him a "reinactment" on CD of the founding fathers putting the constitution together. I can't remember what it is called but its like 6 hours of audio. It will take him a while to get through it and he can listen to it while he travels.

  • does he like sports? Got my fil a Phillies m&ms dispenser with a 5 pound bag of Phillies m&ms to put on his desk. It's actually pretty cute and arrived 3 days after we ordered it.

  • aaaahhhh... I LOVE your signature pic!!!!

We have a Boston too and I just love the breed!!!

But anyways, I got my FIL a cigar case from www.redenvelope.com, he travels alot for his job and I know he smokes them with his business partners every now and then, and it's kind of like a travel case so the cigars don't get crushed or broken.

  • Some old Westerns on Bluray (Unforgiven and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)
    Charting since July 2008

    Out please!
  • My FIL is impossible to shop for.  He's not happy with anything he gets because he claims he doesn't like "material possessions" but at the same time would be completely put out if he didn't get anything.  This year we're paying for the last hour of work he needs done on his piano.

  • what about a tee time for golfing at the local golf course?  I have no idea if he golfs or not.   Im getting that for my FIL.   I had no idea what to get him at first but since my fh got him new golf clubs I figured he'd be dying to get out and try them out.

That would be a great idea if he golfed (I might use it for DH though!)

He's a very simple man (he still types on a typewriter). He enjoys fixing their house and they like watching movies (we got them netflix last year). So I am just stumped. I might just get him a gift certificate to Sears and he can use it when they drive to the "big city". I just hate getting gift cards because it seems so impersonal, you know? I seriously am stressing. This and the fact that I have no idea what to get my own father..

  • I just ordered FIL a Penn State snuggie, corny, I know!  They all usually snack all day on New Year's Day and watch all the bowl games so he can at least use it on that day.

Also got him a 16oz tea infuser travel mug.  It's supposed to keep hot tea hot for hours and is spill proof.  He usually goes everywhere with a mug of tea...just a regular mug and ends up spilling it somewhere.

  • We got FIL the first 2 seasons of Dinners Drive-ins and Dives, along with the books to go with the seasons.

One night he was talking about how much he would love to go to all of the places on the show, and How he wishes he could watch the shows again to make some of the meals on the show.  And the book has some of the recipes in it.

I can't want to Christmas to see how much he likes the gifts.

  • A wheelbarrow!! He always asks to borrow mine during Spring/Summer so I am giving him his own so we don't have to haul mine over to their house!
