Anyone have Cox for cable and success at lowering bills?

I'm really frustrated with our cable bill (tv, internet and phone).  We are paying about $145 a month for  basic, family tier, internet and phone.  Nothing crazy.  Just wanted to know if anyone had success dealing with Cox to get any deals or specials.  Everything I hear from family is that Cox doesn't care if you threaten to cancel service just to get a better deal.  They just tell you to go ahead and cancel your service.  Thanks!

  • I actually have experience to tell! Our internet bill is like $45 a month and our cable was about $75 dollars a month (with Cox). I have called once or twice before to see if we could get it lowered and they basically said no unless we lower our service (and they keep trying to get us to bundle.. we don't want a phone line!!)

    However, we decided to cancel cable a couple days ago. Once I told them the lady said I could get my bill lowered a little... which we would still be getting exactly what we had but we would be saving about $7 a month (which isn't a lot, but more than nothing). I told her i've tried to lower it before and she said that this was "new". However, we still went ahead and cancelled cable.

    I would call and ask them if there is any way to lower your bill, it doesn't hurt to try, but when we told them we were cancelling they did try to lower it for us.
