Coming to KC...need driving advice :)

So here is our plan...

We are staying near the airport just north of Zona Rosa, and racing at a dirt track that is north of the Speedway. We know how to get around that area, but we are coming for an extra day because I want to go to Country Club Plaza. Well, if we are coming in from the north (from NE :)) then, what is the quickest way to first stop at our hotel, and then get to the Steak N' Shake near Shawnee Mission Parkway and Metcalf and then go over to Country Club Plaza, and then back north to our hotel near the airport. There are so many dang roads, that I would hate to take the long way, if there are quicker ways to get to and from these places :)

Im thinking 29 to 635 to 35, get off at Shawnee to get to Steak N Shake, and then take that east all the way to CCP? And then to get back to our hotel take 35 to 29?

How long do ya'll think it will take us to drive to and from these places?

Thanks for the help!!! If you know of any other Steak N Shake's or Chickfila's that are closer to where we are going to be, please let me know :)

  • The directions you wrote will work.  The only part I am not 100% sure about is if the Shawnee Steak N' Shake is the closest, but it will work.  Driving from the airport to Shawnee takes about 25-30 minutes and I am not sure how far the plaza is from there.  Not so good with the Kansas side:(  You are right there are so many dang roads and you could probably take all of them and get to the same place.

I just erased a whole big reply about other Steak N' Shakes and alternate routes because I thought it was too confusing.  There are other Steak N' Shakes but I don't know if it will save you much time, everywhere pretty much takes 25-30 minutes.  Hope you have fun.

  • It will take about 15 minutes from S&S to the CC Plaza.

I'm afraid I don't know the best way to get back to your hotel either.  I don't really go up North.

I believe there is a SNS in Liberty...which is much closer to the airport.

  • There is a SNS on 152 hwy in liberty.  I believe there is also one across from Van Chevrolet which is close to North Oak Ttrfy and I believe 35(I dont go up north too often).

  • If you get on 635, then it turns into Metcalf so there is no need to take 35 to Shawnee Mission Parkway.  From Steak and Shake, it is really easy to get to the Plaza.  Shawnee Mission Parkway takes you straight there.  When it splits, stay to the left.
