What are u doing for New Year's?

None of our friends can seem to come up with something to do this year, so I need ideas to throw at them. I've looked at metromix, but they don't seem to have to many events on there.

What's everyone doing this year?

Re: What are u doing for New Year's?

  • nothing to exciting... just a houseparty... lots of bars have specials... some are fancier than others, get everyone at the same place and it shouldn't matter!

  • We can't justify spending all the money for a NYE party when we're financially planning for a baby.  So, we're hanging out at home this year.  We may do a nice dinner if anything.  I do have a friend who's hosting a party at Abbey Pub.  It's $80 for a concert, appetizers, and top shelf all night.  The artists performing are Todd Carey and Secondhand Serenade.

  • we might be going to a party thrown by one of DH's coworkers... but that's in Rockford.  Not sure if we want to go that far west.

  • We're going to go out to dinner to at our favorite restaurant and then probably just lay low.  Since we've been together (4th NYE) we've only gone out once in the city.  We prefer to just chill rather than hit up the town.

  • we're having a house party.  A lot of our friends want to get together but none of us want to shell out the $80+/pp to do it at a super crowded bar.
  • Black Keys show at the Riv.
  • We are just doing a late dinner with a few couples in the West Loop, walking distance from home so we don't have to deal with not being able to get a taxi!
  • we're doing a house party this year too - one of the guys is a cook that's hosting it so he and I are going to work out some appetizers to class it up a bit (bachelor pad!) - and we're all gonna get dressed up even though we see each other all the time just for fun!
  • we have friends coming into town, and we are doing dinner with live jazz music and dancing. cant wait!
