If you could change one thing...

...about your holidays coming up...

what would it be?

I wouldn't travel anywhere... just stay put.

Re: If you could change one thing...

  • I would go home to my family. I am so over holidays with his.
  • I would spend Christmas Eve Night with my GP, and then all Christmas Day too. With his family it always seems like we're just there to exchange gifts not for family time or anything.

    or

I wish my GP lived closer so we could spend more time with them instead of having to rush to get back in time for his family.

  • I would want a decent family to spend the holidays with.  Let's face it, my in-laws BLEAUX!

  • I would have started my shopping a long time ago.  I've got one person done, out of 8!

  • I would like to host Chirstmas instead of spending it here just the two of us and our families coming down the weekend before and after. Although I am quite excited for a week of vacation with H <3
  • I would be able to go see my mom in HI.  I spend it here with my dad and "his" family (step mom and two half sisters) but i wasn't raised with them so it isn't quite the same.  I told DH that I will be saving all of next year and we WILL be spending baby's first Christmas in Hawaii!
  • I would spend Christmas with my family in Va Beach rather than traveling to Texas to spend time with DH's.

  • I would make my "holiday break" longer, because 11 days is not enough time off around the holidays.....LOL

  • I would have saved up enough PTO to take off winter break to spend it with my son.
  • I would get a tree and decorations. We decided not to spend money on that this year after the car debacle (more like we don't have money to spend).
  • I would NOT gain weight... (yeah, like THAT'S not going to happen...)
  • I would like the break to be longer.  Even though I have time off starting next week through the new year, I still feel like it's not enough!

  • I would travel to spend it with my family. . . It will be ok with his, especially since my BIL/SIL and niece are coming, but I would rather be with mine :P. I guess I should just be thankful that I have nice inlaws!

  • That it wouldn't be so depressing this year. We've lost 2 family members this year, so Christmas is going to be very hard without my Grams there and extremely bittersweet this year.

And that we didn't have to celebrate with M's family. We've done like 2 or 3 Christmas parties already (no, I'm not kidding) with them and some of our friends. I'm getting partied out. And I'm hoping we don't have the stupid gift exchange game that SIL has to play at every flipping family function. Even at a BIRTHDAY party or HOUSEWARMING party, she has us bring a gift to play the stupid game. Sorry, this accidentally turned into a vent Embarrassed

  • I'd have more time off to spend with my family.  I wouldn't have to do holiday time with my inlaws every week up to and after Christmas since they are currently drving me crazy.

  • Spend it with my family. I love his family (well mostly) and I can't wait to see his brother and sister, but I'm tired of feeling judged because I'm not a Christian.

    AGREED!
  • I would leave town and go to Hawaii.  I just spent 4 long days at my parent's house for my brother's wedding so I would be fine not seeing them for awhile.  I'm just over any sort of family time.

  • I'd go to a spa in Bali and pretend there was no such thing.  I'm so over it.

And I would rearrange everything so I could still be in my choir and participate in the holiday sing-along concert.

Excellent and creative answer! I wish I could say that you just won a trip to Bali for it. . .

I'm happy that my ILs don't do this to me. . . They're all lapsed versions of their own religions, so they don't judge me for my "lack".  Also, I'm just not religious, while N is anti-religion, so they'd have to start with him :P

  • I'd rather fly than drive to Iowa, and I wish we had more time to spend there.  It's going to be a whirlwind trip.  And I wish we had more money.

Luckily, J is a buddhist so they're screwed with both of us.

It's not an usually active judging, which is good I guess . . . It's just their passive way of making it clear our choices aren't as good as theirs are.
