Hi...Looking for furniture

Hello,

My husband and I just got married a couple of weeks a go. Since we are starting off our grand adventure, we need help setting up our home.

So if you are selling or getting rid of ,living room furniture, dinning room furniture, etc. let us know. You would be helping us out tremendously.

We are located in Miami,Florida. So if you live nearby it will be a great help.

Thank you,

Gaby and JJ

Re: Hi...Looking for furniture

  • Hey there. I don't know of anyone selling furniture, but have you thought about IKEA? They are very reasonably priced and you get get "start-up" furniture or even nicer, more durable pieces for cheap.

We bought most of our furniture at American Signature, which also has great stuff for reasonable prices. GL furnishing your home. It's a process!

  • Congrats and welcome!

I second Elistar's post about Ikea and American Signature. It's definitely a long process, but so worth it to get decent pieces for great prices. We've had luck at City Furniture and El Dorado, too.

As far as old furniture for sale, we have a few pieces we just want out of our garage and would be willing to let anyone have them for free, but they're small, cheap things like a desk from Target and a small dinette set. The quality isn't the greatest; the pieces would need to be sanded and painted to make them look nice again.  And our problem is they're pieces more appropriate for a small apartment, not a house with "grown-up" furniture. :)

Ooh, if you're looking for a dining room light fixture--think traditional chandelier--you can have it! It's in great condition but not our style, so we replaced it with a new fixture.

  • DH and I may be selling our TV stand (for large TV - holds our 61 in) and matching entertainment center (holds DVDs) if we get a new one.  I'll keep you posted.  Oh, and both are black.

Congrats and welcome to the board!

  • Hello and Welcome =) Congrats on your recent marriage!!!

As far as cheap furniture you may be able to find some nice used stuff on Craig's List...most of the girls have already mentioned some great places as well...good luck on your hunt for furniture!!!Big Smile

  • Hello and welcome!

Like the girls said, don't forget to try IKEA and Craigslist for furniture. Also check out Freecycle, it's basically a networking site where you join according to the area where you live. The site allows people to post anything and everything that they are giving away for free! It's sort of like Craigslist, but without money. Also, I love the clearance section at the Crate&Barrel Outlet at Sawgrass. They put new stuff out every Tuesday, everything from furniture to rugs to accessories. If you're looking for something specific you can always call ahead and the staff is always helpful.

    HTH!

  • I second Ikea and American Signature, that's where all our furniture is from!  Also, like pp said, Craigslist has stuff for sale and a  free section - you can find tons of stuff there.

Another option is furniture auctions.  My SIL has gotten pieces for as little as $25 that are worth $500 or even thousands, no joke.  The auction is weekly and they have to get rid of everything that they can each week, so if they only get one bid for $10, then they will sell you that piece for that price.  Some of it is icky, but some of the stuff is amazing and very expensive brands. Here is the auction website, they try to post pictures each week of what will be sold that weekend: http://www.stanfordauctions.com/

  • Hi MJZ,

I'm not sure if you received my email, through the nest but I wanted to know if the furniture you are offering is still available and if you have any pictures so I can see if it would fit within our apartment.

If you'd like you can email me at iloveny59@yahoo.com

    thank you once again,

    Gaby
